EA's game play greed

EA:

You have taken your greed to new heights.

Opinion bubbles while visiting other cities and in your own city now yields: steel, plastic, minerals, cheese ect. Only about one in forty-fifty items collected in this way are the special resources needed to upgrade buildings. The balance can be readily manufactured in the factories and in commercial stores in minutes. Leaving a player abandoned for building upgrade special resources.

Hey EA give us the ability to manufacture these special resources: Dozer Wheels, Blades, Exhausts and Storage Bars, Cameras, Locks and Vu’s Batteries, Remotes, Gloves and Tokyos’ Bonsai Tree, Lucky Cat, Lantern and Beach Scuba Mask, Life Belt, Ships Wheel and Parisian La Baguette, Luxury Bag, Fashion Clothes and London Town Tea Pot, Bobbies Helmet, Telephone Box and finally Mountain Compass, Winter Hat, Snowboard.

The above 24 items are crucial to game success but are so scarce that it makes playing this game frustrating.

This part of the game has changed dramatically. I used to depend on the "opinion bubbles" to gather resources needed and the frequency was about one to one: one valuable item to one cheap item. Now this task is a waste of time and shows just how much greed you have introduced into this game. Game Players – EA wants you to spend those Simcash for game resources and then go purchase more Simcash with your own hard earned dollars.

Upgrading buildings has gotten extremely costly, especially this new comical Neo ideal. The difficulty in upgrading these buildings is even worse than the below scenario.

Remember twelve-fifteen months ago (or more) EA - you changed the resources needed to make a cargo shipment? You sent players an in game message saying these shipments were now "easier to make". Ea has fallen right back to this impossible undertaking of moving this game forward.

For instance: a new Parisian building (one that has no population yet) at my game level 47 requires the following:

5 Glass - value 600 SImoleans

4 Chairs - value 1200 Simoleans

1 Luxury Bag - value 1800 Simoleans

4 Bricks - value 760 Simoleans

3 Lawn Mowers - value 2520 Simoleans

3 Microwave Ovens - value 1440 Simoleans

A whopping 8320 Simoleans just to get a building started and my reward: 57 citizens, 82 experience points and 1922 Simoleans. And please do not insult my intelligence or experience in playing this game EA. I immediately, repeatedly, change the building plans and wait the hour an hour just to see the same results.

As for my experience, success, well I always have taken a slow growth approach to this game to ensure that I would have enough Simoleans to expand the city without fear of Sim disapproval. Now my city at level 47: has over 1,000,000 Sims, millions of Simoleans, thousands of Simcash and all without hacking the game (look at my cities progression EA) – because I do not spend money on the game I now have to deal with the restrictions.

Take the perpetual money making model out of this game. Give us this game as a onetime reasonable purchase fee, that is un-restricted by EA only to be bound by our own success. Not a forever fee.

To add to the frustration, when you are trying to keep special items for something your storage gets smaller and smaller.

I'm glad i have built all the Parisian, Tokyo and London buildings i'm going to build as i now don't need to use valuable storage space for these.

It's still annoying that i have to sell most of my storage building items because i want to expand my mountain and i really don't want to sell the land expansion ones because as you say, they do take a while to come by.

  • I completely agree. I’ve been playing SimCity since approximately when it came out in 2014. And I am barely finishing my first city. It takes way too much work and time to progress in this game. I am only level 69. Eight years of playing and only level 69?! And I’m President of an active club! The final straw for me was seeing an advertisement today for the Northern Lights Research Institute, and EA wants $14.99 for this?! And they throw in 475 coins? Are you serious right now? This is a normal educational building. $14.99 is more than the cost of some games! I’m getting tired of running on broke. You have 6 map options plus War, plus, CoM, plus the Design game. It takes a ton of money to play this game. It is way too difficult to advance. My last map I obtained literally took me years to get the 1milion experience to earn it. They want 10 million for the next. How is this at all reasonable?!
