Fixed - street/traffic lights, sims, zoom. Simple hack

I know the post is marked as solved but as an owner of an ASUS ZenPad with an Intel CPU and PowerVR GPU I wasn't satisfied with EA's excuse of a response; so I've fixed it myself and now have full shadows, streetlights, traffic lights, all the vehicles and Sims running around and all it took was copying one file onto my device.

The file in question is benchmark.txt and that file lives in the simcity install folder next to dynamic_new.txt and dynamic_old.txt. All you need to do is get a copy from a device where all of the above works and replace the one on your device. I took mine from a Nexus 7 (2012) and as soon as stated the game everything worked.

Notes:

  • My device is rooted, not sure if you will need yours rooted for this to work or not.
  • You will likely need to repeat this each time there is an update as the benchmark will run again.

I'll try and upload my benchmark.txt later but please give it a go and leave feedback.

Considering how many people complained about this I thought I might have got at least one post across the five threads with some feedback...

  • please upload those two or three files somewhere. Or ealse at least give the screenshots of those txt files so that I can edit my txt from it. 🙂

    Hi

You don't need to modify the dynamic_new and old files as they get written on every game start, you only need to replace the benchmark.txt file which I have attached. I don't think you can modify it as it seems to be hexadecimal.

Put this file in the folder that has the the files mentioned and start SIM city.

    Cheers

  • Didn't work for me ☹️ . Cause I noticed that mine benchmark.txt and your benchmark.txt are same. there is maybe another way. did you just replaced that file only? and that worked!?

Yeah the file is like 13 or 14 bytes... I took the file from my mates Nexus 7 and copied it to my ZenPad overwriting the existing one and ran simcity. Does your device actually have the CPU and GPU to get those effects?

  • I have 1.3ghz quad core processor, 1gb of ram and mali-400 gpu. Don't know what is the requirements to get those graphics!
