Lost all my ofline progress

I was playing on my iPad ofline a month, and when I was going online, all my progress was gone. I want that progress back, or money to rebuild the progress I lost

    What an unfortunate event mercer, we're sorry but we can't help you with that problem since you've not been online. Please, play the game while you are online so all the progress will be saved.

But that only happens to some users or is general? For example, stay two days offline and connect the progress of these two days will be lost? why is it that this happens?
