I combined all these reports since they're all reporting the same error message on a Samsung A71. Also changed the title to highlight.
It is possible that the recent DDoS attacks on EA servers were causing this issue. EA has been experiencing a number of outages, which would be beyond our ability to troubleshoot. Make sure your phone and game are updated & there are no reported issues with the EA servers. (check EAHelp on Twitter in the sidebar here).

@BlackjackWidow Thanks for all your hard work and sharing of knowledge. It IS definitely sounding like either a Samsung Galaxy A71 issue or an outage issue, or a combination of both.

Hey there! I'm having the same exact issue with my Samsung Galaxy A71. I would launch Simcity Buildit and after the title screen, then the part where you'd have to put in your age. So after I put in my age and selected "done"... the game would barely load for 2 secs then the error message would pop up. I tried a bunch of stuff to try to solve the issue including deleting and reinstalling, switching from wifi to a cellular connection (mobile data), restarting phone, even tried installing from Amazon Appstore instead of Google Play Store. None of the above worked so all felt hopeless and I just gave up and just accepted the fact that just maybe the game doesn't work on my phone. I have lots of other games and apps on my phone, like PUBG, COD Mobile, Asphalt 8 & 9, Need for Speed No Limits, Plants VS Zombies 2, Angry Birds 2 and all of these work perfectly with my wifi connection, including all apps on my phone. It's just this one game that has this issue on my phone. Everything else works fine.
