Town Forum- 30/10/26

Greetings, Mayors!

Welcome to this week's Town Forum! Today, we are shining a spotlight on one of the ultimate design achievements in your cities: Epic Projects.
Upgrading your regular residential buildings into towering, specialized Epic buildings is a true mark of city planning dedication. We want to know how this system fits into your weekly gameplay routine and how we can make the experience even better!

🚦Feedback Spotlight: Epic ProjectsLet us know your thoughts on Epic Projects by answering the questions below:1. How often do you build Epic Projects in your city? (e.g., Do you build them regularly, only during special events, or has it been a while since your last upgrade?)2. What do you enjoy the most about building them? (e.g., Is it the aesthetic designs of the buildings, the challenge of the 24-hour upgrade process, or the speed tokens they generate - or absolutely anything else that comes to mind?)3. What do you wish was different about Epic Projects? (e.g., Would you change the point requirements, the token parts balance, the task variety, or how the visual styles are selected- or any other ideas you have?)

📌How It Works & Ground Rules

Spoiler
  • Timeline: The thread opens Friday and closes Monday, so we can package your feedback directly for the development team.
  • Stay on Topic: Focus answers strictly on this week's task separation questions. (Direct bugs to Player Support).
  • Be Constructive: Critique is welcome! Tell us what isn't working and why so we can make tangible improvements.
  • Details matter: Please be as detailed as possible in your responses—even if your feedback is negative! Explaining exactly why a feature doesn't feel right to you is the best way to help us shape the future of SimCity BuildIt.
  • Respect the Community: Keep it courteous. Zero tolerance for personal attacks or toxic language.

Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts and shaping our community. See you in the city, Mayors!

    Hello EA_Mari,

I have a lot of Epic buildings, so much so,  I've almost run out of eligible residential buildings,  and vacant real estate. I now only build them for CoM/Mayors Pass points. I would like to upgrade any completed building to epic status, not just residential. Thanks

  • I am going to respond based on the experience I had with epic buildings in the cities I deleted earlier this year (and the deleting was indirectly caused by the amount of epic buildings I had)

    1. I did epic projects almost weekly at one point, but slowed down over time as my city became "mature" and the amount of skyscrapers I had for epic projects dwindled.
    2. There is absolutely nothing fun about building an epic project - if you enjoy producing items and navigating the global market for what you need to complete a task for the epic project - you must have a lot more freetime than I do. I usually loved the end product, with the exception of the educational epic buildings, those are ugly imo. The reason I completed epic projects was for the token parts, and to give my city a visual upgrade. The residential skyscraper buildings are incredibly generic and sometimes very repetitive which for me being a style snob at the time, I had specific style palettes for each region (only specific residence types like sunny or frosty in the applicable regions with specific specialty epics being bult). It was serious business for me.
    3. The big reason I deleted my cities really had a lot to do with epics (I'm on topic bear with me) was the amount of service consumption they required with the services 2.0 upgrade. I was already very unhappy with the clear lack of empathy those in power had for the players who had to tear up years old designs, but the amount of services that was going to be required to making my city functioning would have required a lot of time and resource investment. Another thing I didn't like is the wide variety of materials / supplies / items needed to satisfy the tasks for the epic project - I already had five regions unlocked when the "new" (aka mostly recycled) shops were added to the game like the sports shop, etc. It just made epic projects even more challenging. I think the best way to make epic projects "funner" would be to redesign the whole thing, lighten the requirements somehow in terms of points needed, variety of materials / supplies needed, or something similar. Also, give players an option to request the task be refreshed with different items (like the same way we can do for upgrading buildings, it's another opportunity to make people watch videos!). If you're afraid of everyone overdoing it with refreshing, limit video watching opportunity and make the wait time like an hour. And lastly (and most unlikely), reduce the service requirements for Epic buildings (and Omegas).

I love Epic projects but only attempt them now when there is a double points event. Far too much work involved otherwise! I'm only interested in getting gold or silver as I have loads of bronze and unless it's a double points event, I've no chance of doing this.

I love Epic buildings, particularly the ones that echo the specialisation or region. The tokens they produce are invaluable, and my main reason for doing them.

More designs would be nice. A wider range so there are less duplicates. As others have said, the downside is that you need so many tokens to acquire a speed up token for the shops. I have an array of Epic buildings over my regions and after collection only have got a few wee tokens to show for it

Thank you for opportunity to share opinions

  • 1.It has been a long time since I last built a new Epic Building because I already have enough of them.

2.What I love most about Epic Buildings is their beautiful and intricate designs. The speed-up tokens they produce are also very helpful.

3.I would like the number of speed-up token fragments required to craft a usable speed-up token to remain fixed. For example, when I first had three Epic Buildings, I could collect three speed-up token fragments and combine them into one usable speed-up token. However, after my collection grew to more than ten Epic Buildings, I had to collect many more speed-up token fragments to craft a single usable speed-up token. This makes it increasingly difficult to obtain speed-up tokens. I sincerely hope this issue can be addressed.

4.Vehicles on four-lane roads do not stay properly aligned within their respective lanes. Some vehicles drive directly over the double yellow lines, and vehicles overlap one another while waiting at traffic lights. This is a very obvious bug that has persisted for at least six months, yet it has still not been fixed. I hope the developers will resolve this issue as soon as possible. I will continue reporting this bug until it is fixed.
