Two Community Suggestions Implemented in <12 mo...Proof EA is listening?

This is more of an observation, following the announcement this morning about the "Knock Down/Out" feature that's been brought to club wars and the curious reaction I'm seeing to the news (as no one has had the opportunity as yet to see it in action) elsewhere online.

While I'm unable to cite the exact post (due in no small part to the rather pathetic forum search capabilities here), I have combed through years of posts in the "Game Improvement" thread over the past couple years and so I have a lot of confidence that the repeated requests to 1) create a boost/attack that would 'break' the shield and 2) put a time limit on how long a team can stay shielded, initially came from SCBI's player community. Now, we may not be exactly happy with the way Shield Buster was implemented, and who knows how things will flesh out with the "knock down/out" timer, but can we all just take a moment to stop and appreciate the fact that EA actually listened to player feedback and made changes based on that feedback?

I'm not nominating them for any customer service awards😉 but I have to give some credit where it's due, since "bubble teams" was arguably the single biggest complaint in this game when it comes to club wars. After years of feeling like our cries fell on deaf ears, we now have TWO ways to counter this complaint, both released within 9 months of each other (Sept 2019, May 2020). This has to give us a bit of hope that squeaky wheels do in fact get the grease, doesn't it?

I'm not what one would call an eternal optimist, but the amount of preemptive lamenting I'm seeing in online groups for this game about a feature that it seemed like most players wanted at one point, is honestly disappointing and mind boggling. Can we take some solace in the fact that we have clear evidence now that our opinions are actually taken into consideration, and also at least wait if and until the idea crashes and burns before we renew our digital pitchforks? 🤔

It’s a legit strategy that turns almost every club into one-trick pony. Without this trick, they are crippled and can’t play the game anymore. As I had said, EA should have solve this problem earlier, and players can easily adapt to new changes during the early stages of club wars.

Yes, the cheater problem had gotten a lot worse due to one trick ponies leaving the game in masses. But still, I stand by what I had said about rather fighting cheaters than bubble lovers. Trying to win bubble lovers is too painful a process that I rather be losing to cheater teams instead. We have real life commitments to attend to, we can’t be waiting around for bubble lovers to sneak out in order to stop them from trying to score a cheap win over us. At least I do not need to wait around for something to happen when fighting cheaters.

Cheaters are still a big problem. EA should be actively banning them. Non action on EA’s part is going hurt the bottomline anyway, whether the bubble strategy exists or not. Bubble strategy should not be justified because of the cheaters.

And I doubt that EA introduced shield buster just because of what we had said, given their track record of ignoring us. There should be players giving up on the game that caused them to do something about it. But it came too late and chased away more players instead. The four hours thing might work better than shield buster. In fact, bubble lovers may find a workaround for this change. But EA chose to introduce the money generating shield buster instead.

Most legit players got addicted to bubble strategy and when shield buster was introduced, they couldn’t function without the shields, so they moved on from this game (notice some bubble-loving forum members disappearing?). This is good example of letting the problem spiralling out of control. Sure, I don’t miss these bubble lovers since they are ruining the fun anyway. But with most of the legit teams leaving, we are left with only cheaters and feeders to fight. I had never fought so many cheaters before. Imagine fighting 5 cheater teams consecutively at 5000th place. That’s how bad it is.

it also depends on how you like to play,  without a doubt the bubble strategy was very popular (although many do not like to recognize it) Of course, in my opinion, feeder players damaged that emotion using 9 accounts and only playing with one that appeared at random times. Also the way SB was added was too gross and unbalanced

EA could have kept those bubble-strategy-loving players by simply creating game forms.

as well as in some games you can choose the campaign, free for all, cooperative. Well, when starting the war, being able to choose to start a war without SB (whoever wins the most points and can hide in the shield wins) and another game mode: knock out the enemy by locking them in his shield with a time counter (how it is now), and done, everyone happy, everyone satisfied. I suggested this at the time, but unfortunately, EA decided to act like that "democracy" in which a candidate wins with 51% of votes and the other half is forced to a new system that does not share or make their happy and that leads you to emigrate, in this case, to others games.

    @BlazinsZ

Exactly! The choice to choose the type of wars we want to play is a good way to solve the problem. But EA just loves to introduce new features without paying attention to details. They just threw in one SB to get us to pay to level up this disaster without considering anything else. There should be some kind of limitation to SB to make the game balanced.

As I had said before, when SB was first introduced, that was the best time to catch the cheaters since it was impossible to get level 15 SB with few days, but nothing was done about it.

  • @meesfeet, Good to see you, it’s been awhile - I readily concede you’re not a bubble proponent although we have discussed the validity in the past and since I have been a vocal opponent of the alleged bubble strategy I believe we need to define it in very specific terms (as many new folks have found their way to the forum) - it was simply who could get to the bubble first with the lead and hide the balance of the war game. No strategy involved just a simple game plan and quite honestly the easiest one to beat. Also to clarify I never said it was cheating...it simply was taking advantage of a programming glitch - I have expressed my disdain for the “strategy” and have clearly stated my perspective (and that of many others) so there’s no need to repeat it here as it effectively has gone by the wayside.

In my opinion, the answer to all 3 questions you asked is no. ⚽ there was absolutely no way a bubble team would ever get the lead against a real hacker, 🏈 the hackers certainly do not appear to have been reduced by this change, 🏀 the game is not better, but it’s certainly not as boring. You are correct the game once was strategic, the first 3 to 6 months prior to someone deciding that hiding and denying others the right to play was acceptable and any contest between 2 clubs that came to play and actually competed. @J6niceL is absolutely correct too many clubs including some of the top clubs reverted to this strategy to save resources, pick up easy wins and some to participate in multiple wars at the same time to collect resources for their primary club (not an opinion just a simple fact).
I’ve been playing the game since the beginning and from my associations I found many more players left during the height of the bubble strategy than have left due to the shield buster and the demise of “the strategy” - now if you add in the folks fed up with the hackers & cheaters you may be close to the same numbers. Since neither of us have the actual statistics, I will simply say the bottom line is until the cheating and hacking issues are addressed they will continue to lose customers. Take care & stay safe.

Yup, gone are the days where a team can win by scoring 30k collectively. Lol

Now, victory or loss depending which side is more willing to put resources into the war. Actually, this actually makes more logical sense. Club wars will be in a better position to appeal to us again if EA really come down hard on the cheaters.

  • @J6niceL I think you’re very much on target...the game will become much more strategic and available resources will be key. Management of the bubble will be critical and the advantage shifts to multinational clubs. I do believe as the pandemic becomes more manageable and folks move forward in the new normal the hours will need to be revisited but I agree the game should be in a better place...assuming the cheating and hacking issues are quickly brought under control. Take care my friend, stay safe.
