Upgrading at intersections

When upgrading at 3 or 4 way intersections, I am finding that I have to upgrade connecting roads to get the intersection to upgrade. This becomes really noticeable and annoying when upgrading to have streetcars. You end up with having partial streetcar rails going up roads you don't want them to be on. I have emailed support about this and am asking others to do the same so it may be resolved. My suggestion is to make the boxes at intersections upgradeable on their own. Or at least they should be upgraded to accept what any road they are connected with. It isn't really noticeable until you try to connect a streetcar, but you can see a slight color variation when upgrading to an Avenue and Boulevard.

Is it possible to bulldoze the roads you don't want upgraded to remove the intersection, put in your trolley lines, and then rebuild the bulldozed roads? Maybe that would be a workaround.

I did try that prior to posting this string, but as soon as you reconnect the road/roads that were bulldozed the streetcar rail disappears and the new intersecting road has has to be upgraded to accept a streetcar to pass through that intersection....I know, that makes no sense to me either, an existing road shouldn't be downgraded due to a new intersecting road.
