Variation in residential buildings

Is it just me..... I'm not looking to have all skyscrabers in my city, I want beach houses, medium houses, trailer trash, and all in between.... I would really appreciate the option to "lock" a residential building when it reaches a desired lvl. No helmet over the roof. No worries if it evt. Becomes ready for upgrade, just a freeking cool house to the collection
