Waste to Energy and Resource Recovery

Hello Developers and fellow Mayors,

I approach you with a suggestion to improve our lovely game regarding the existing waste incinerators and how to improve them.

What is that smell? There is garbage everywhere on our streets and our sims have had enough. We also need power, but do not live in a sunny or windy region. Coal power? Yuck.

One way many cities manage waste is by burning the trash, which can be done in large amounts (sometimes up to 4,000 tons per day!). Large scale municipal waste incineration also has a benefit.

Waste to Energy Plants or Resource Recovery Centers have garbage trucks weighed upon entry, the truck then dumps the garbage onto a floor where it is either scooped or picked up by a claw and placed onto a conveyor belt, magnets recover any metals that can not be combusted, then the remaining waste is shredded in a large shredding machine. The waste then travels to a combustion chamber or bowl where the waste is burned at extremely high temperatures. The heat from the

combustion process generates steam which powers large steam turbines, sometimes enough to power 50,000 homes!

A Waste to Energy Plant or Resource Recovery Center could provide the following guidelines:

Rank: 20

Area: 3x2 or 4x2

Simoleons: 30,000

Waste Provided: 40

Power Provided: 40

Pollution Radius: 8x8

So Developers, Mayors, fellow lovers of SimCity Buildit, please join me in supporting large scale municipal waste incineration for our sims to generate the power they deserve.

note: for reference, Covanta and Wheelabrator are two facilities in that you can reference in the design process for Waste to Energy or Resource Recovery Facilities.

  • New energy suggestion…natural gas power plants perhaps? So many ways to create electricity, so few in game options.
