When canceling an assignment cost nothing, it made sence they would likely reappear. Now, you have to earn tickets to complete assignments. So if you decide to use said tickets to cancel an assignment, IMO, that should eliminate that assignment until next week's tasks.

Agreed. This would make sense.
We shouldn't be spending a currency to get something to go away, only for it to almost immediately return.
I have over 10000 gold tickets being that I buy the premium pass every month so get a few that way. Now if I cancel an assignment it really doesn’t bother me and I’m lvl 99 been playing 10+ years and have every region opened and fully upgraded.
