Can't raise or lower roads

I'm having the same issue as here:

I go to place a road using the straight tool, press M to raise it and it just places. I don't take my hand off the button.

I'm on a laptop, and surprisingly it works with a USB mouse but it's really inconvenient using it currently, and I'd like to use it with my trackpad.

Is there potentially a fix for this?

    Hi @vulgarfate,

    Welcome to Answers HQ 🙂

    If there's an update available, you could try to update your keyboard and trackpad drivers, just in case it helps.

    However, as MaxisBazajaytee was explaining in that thread, if it works with your mouse, it could be a keyboard/trackpad buffer issue where too many keys are getting pressed at the same time. Unfortunately, in this case the only thing I can think of is playing with the mouse.
