Memory allocation failed SimCity will close [1006] (See descr)

Edit: Apologies, after re-reading your post, it seems you're getting this error message randomly while playing. I'm afraid most of my answer didn't address this issue - my apologies.

The only thing I can offer is that I have less problems while running the game as Administrator. Afraid that's really the only relevant info I can provide without referencing past posts. Good luck.

I've only seen this error twice, but both times it was because the program was blocked from working as designed. I guess that could be a "memory allocation", but I found the error description to be less than helpful in troubleshooting.

The first time I got this message, I had updated my antivirus and firewall and the settings had inadvertently changed. I needed to allow the exe to get through the firewall and then everything was fine.

The second time I got this message, I had moved to offline playing and tried to run SimCity without running Origin. It would fail immediately if I blocked Origin from running (throwing the memory allocation error), and also crash to desktop with the same error if I attempted to close Origin after launching my offline city. 

Based only on my own experiences, I would say double-check that you're connected to the Internet and Origin, and make sure that your firewall is allowing the game. I also find I have less problems when running as Administrator, so you may want to try that as well.

One year after posting this thread, several tickets and one yéar later, I still have no success in finding a solution.
Since I'm not the only one having this issue, I'm sure it's an issue in the source code of SC2013. My wife recently upgraded her PC and installed W10 and now experiences the same issue as we do.

If EA would just acknowledge the issue, it would be okay. But they keep saying their game is flawless. Well, according to an ex-employee of Maxis Studios there are MANY issues not resolved because EA didn't deem it necessary.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. In the original thread in this post, @Karnemeth stated that he didn't want any solutions that had already been posted, so there wasn't a lot to offer.

I can tell you that I ran SimCity on Windows Vista Professional edition for many years. I bought a new gaming PC last year with Win 10, and I run it successfully on that as well. SimCity is an older program that no longer has an active development team, so when issues arise, users like you and me are the best source for troubleshooting.

I've been lucky, I guess, that I've never personally seen this memory allocation error. There are a few "basics" that might help. If you uninstall/reinstall, always run installation files "As Administrator". Do a quick double-check on these tips:

1. Firewall and Antivirus - Make sure SimCity.exe and Origin.exe are added to exception lists. If you have BitDefender installed, disable it.
2. Graphics drivers and Windows OS are patched and updated to newest versions
3. SimCity.exe and Origin.exe - Set them to run "as administrator"
4. Nahimic 2 from MSI - this is an audio management program that comes with MSI motherboards. Disable or uninstall it. Nahimic 2 is known to block SimCity from launching.
5. Disable Origin in-game In Origin main menu, right-click SimCity icon, Game Properties, check the box that says "Disable Origin In-game"
6. Run in Windows 7 or 8 compatibility mode - right-click SimCity shortcut; choose Properties > Compatibility tab > heck the box to run in Win 7 or 8 compatibility mode
7. Disable Proxy if you're using one. If you're not, try using one.
8. Monitor Settings - SimCity does not work with dual monitors, so set it to use one only. Also, no higher than 1080p resolution (no 4k)
9. No Mods - if you have any installed, uninstall them

I'm just a user like you, trying to help others. My answer/suggestion was to @Blindcloud, to make sure that player tries all the things that you've already tried. The memory allocation error can be a tricky one, because the game is older and there is no active development team anymore, the programming is not set up to handle some of the newer error exceptions it runs into. I think this error can be thrown when the game comes across something it was not originally built to handle.

I understand that you're frustrated with this, and it's certainly frustrating to have it happen on two different pc's. In the case of other users, however, this may not be an "unsolveable" problem. I know you've had it happen on 2 separate installs. On the other hand, I can tell you I've installed on 3 separate PC's, on Windows Vista, Windows 8 and 8.1, upgraded to 10 from Vista and 8.1, and installed on a brand new Windows 10 gaming pc, and the only time I ever got a memory error was on an old machine that was running out of hard drive space. Once I cleared some more space, that one ran as well. So we all have different experiences.

As far as your particular issue goes, your dual monitors may be the issue. You don't need to unplug the second monitor, you could just set the display settings to single monitor mode to test. Obviously, you stated you don't want to do this and this isn't the way you play the game. I understand, but in the interest of finding a workaround, this may be the only one. Trying different resolution settings and setting the *.exe to run Override High DPI Settings and let the application handle the scaling might help. If that isn't the issue, or you don't want to try it, I understand.
