My cities don't sync properly in the region.

So here's a weird one.

Every city I've made has been in a region with friends and family.  In every single one, my city doesn't sync with the server after the first 30 minutes or so of play.  I've had cities with 120,000 people in them, but every time someone comes to visit (or looks n region view) they see a version of my city from when it had about 1,500 people in it.   Here are some fun features of this bug;

  • None of my upgrades show up. Money I send never gets there (even though the region chat says it does).
  • Everyone else's cities syncs fine on my end.  I can see their changes when I visit or in the region view, and I can receive the upgrades they unlock.  But every city in every region and in every server I make gets stuck in an early version.
  • If I quit, I don't get a "some of your cities are not synced" message.  The game doesn't usually tell people when I last played.  Unless I change the name of my city, in which case the time updates to "just now" and quitting will give me the "some of your cities are not synced" message.  The cities do not sync afterwards
  • If I play two cities in the same region, any city I am not playing appears stuck to me.  The region view will show me the most recent changes, but the population and simolean statistics are not updated.  Any commuters, rail connections, gifts etc do not update.
  • Deleting my local files (as suggested during the original failing to check for updates bug) wipes any changes since the frozen moment.  This has lead to one of my cities being rebuilt three times
  • Completely uninstalling and reinstalling my game does not resolve this bug.
  • Disabling my firewall does not resolve this bug

This is making the game a little more frustrating than I'd expected.  I cannot actually play multiplayer because nothing I do changes the game for anyone else.  I can't really play single player either, unless I'm content with being confined to a single city.  Which I'm not.

I've looked around and haven't seen anyone else with a bug quite like this.  Some people are having problems with all syncing, but I've yet to see a thread or comment about this weird asynchronous syning problem.  And and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    A quick update.

When I load a city (which takes a good long time), everyone else gets a message that "Mayor Issmir has joined Issmiria".  Then the moment I actually load in, they get a message saying "Mayor Issmir has left Issmiria".

I'd really appreciate any help anyne can give me, as this is puzzling the crap out of me

Another update. It turns out that my cities are actually updating - just unbelievably slowly, and it appears that the bigger the city is, the slower the update. When my latest city was at about 6k residents i sent a neighboring city 10k simoleans as a test. It arrived about 4 hours later. I sent 100k at that point, and 36 hours later that gift has yet to materialize.

I also paid the money to build an arcology as a great work. It's still processing 36 hours later.

At this point i decided to cut my userdata folder out of my simcity folder and allow it to download what was on the server. Sure enough, i was presented with my city as seen way back in time. I then replaced that folder with the folder i had cut and... Still rolled back.

Tldr - i am unable to play this game with more than one city. I have no clue if this issue has been acknowledged or indeed if this is getting read at all. I do enjoy the game and feel I've been pretty patient, but my desire to play the game is draining fast. I have tried every single thing i can think of to resolve or test the problem qt my end. At this point, all I can do is hope that someone at maxis finds and patches out whatever bug I"m being hit with
  • Did you manage to fix this?

I am having the same problem.

    thank you

Hi @Streebor - Generally speaking, if you're having issues with the regional view, the quickest way to sync your information across the region is to log out of SimCity (through the menu). This forces a synchronization on the server and generally updates for all cities.

Since this is a pretty old thread that talks about an issue with server overload at launch, I am going to lock it to prevent further necro-posting.  If you need additional help with a similar issue please post a new thread with details on exactly what is happening so someone can help. Happy Building!
