Re: Garbage starting to smell

Hi @retrochansmith! There are a couple of reasons your garbage may not be collected. If you open the garbage data layer, you can watch to see how the garbage is being collected and where it is piling up. This can help you to narrow down the problem.

First, make sure you have enough trucks. In edit mode, add more truck garages. If you already have maximum truck garages, the problem can be traffic. Garbage is collected daily, I think it's between 8 am and 3 pm. Watch the garbage shift and make sure your trucks are able to reach all areas of the city. Traffic jams cause the most problems in SimCity regardless of the service, so fixing your traffic flow can help with all sorts of problems.

If the trucks don't leave the garage in the morning, make sure that the facility is open. If you don't have enough worker sims able to reach the garbage dump to go to work on time, it will fail to open, or open late and not be able to get to all the garbage in time.

Finally, the garbage trucks can sometimes get stuck or lost. If the trucks never leave the dump at all, or leave but don't come back, check to make sure you're not sharing with another city. Garbage sharing works well starting out, but as the region grows it can cause problems. Trucks leave the city and don't come back, or get stuck in regional traffic and can't get back in time. If this happens, try turning the dump off for a couple of hours to see if the trucks return. If they don't, you can demolish and rebuild the truck garages which will reset them. Finally, demolishing the entire dump and rebuilding will reset them, too, but be aware that you will want to plant trees to clear up any ground pollution you create.

I hope this helps. Happy building!
