Re: Trade Depots not delivering to factories
Hi @TaCob0b - I moved your message to its own thread, as the one you posted in was quite old and dealt with exporting/importing, not deliveries. I also changed the title to better reflect your issue.
There are a few reasons that your trade depot may stop working.
- Check to be sure that the depots actually have the resource to be able to deliver it. If you don't have any alloy in the storage lots, they won't be able to deliver it
- Check to make sure the depot resource button is still set to "Turn local deliveries On", and that you have the correct setting under the Manage Global Market Deliveries (use locally or import)
- Make sure the factories are set to "Local Deliveries On"
- Make sure your trade depots are open & staffed - closed depots don't deliver
- Find your delivery trucks! Go into Edit mode on the Trade Depot and check to see if the delivery trucks are in the garages. If not, check the Trade data map layer and see where they are in your city
- If the trucks are stuck in traffic, fix your traffic and/or relocate your depots
- If the trucks are in the garages, try turning off the garages & bulldozing them. Then exit & reenter the edit mode & add new truck garages
- If you still have them, get rid of any of the default freight storage lots & add more needed resource storage lots
- Freight storage is a resource sink and very rarely needed. The only time you need them is if your factories complain that there is nowhere to ship freight, and you don't want to zone commercial
- It's best to have a trade depot dedicated to one resource. The game can get confused / trucks can get behind if there's more than one resource type in the depot
This issue almost always happens due to traffic problems, which you'll need to solve by watching the Trade data map layer. You can try a more direct road layout, or move your depots closer to the factories (or the highway entrance, if importing is the issue). It can also bug if your trade depots closed for some reason (no power, no workers, etc). To solve this, you can try turning the depots off for 24 sim-hours, then turn them back on one at a time. If that doesn't work, then bulldozing them & rebuilding might be necessary. Make sure to turn them off and wait until all the trucks return to their garages before demolishing. Otherwise, you will strand the trucks and it will cause a lot more problems. DON'T bulldoze the trade depots without the trucks in their garages.
I hope this helps and you can get your alloy flowing back to your factories. Happy building!
