Lag has recently been attributed to an excess of tourism in a city. Try opening a new city as a test. If it's the same, then you may have a hardware issue.

EA StaffIt is unlikely to be hardware unless your PC has started having other troubles.
As dddibley mentions, there is an issue we are aware of where you have an excess of tourists or shoppers in your city and they won't leave your city which causes the game to run slowly. This is one of the issues being addressed in Update 6.0.

This issue still hasn't been resolved. Quite shocking that after nearly 10 years of your post and Ea acknowledging the problem it's still not fixed!
I have a 4090ti Gpu and 1gb Download Internet. I spent over 5k on my pc and it couldn't handle the lag/fps drops
I played in other cities with 200-300k population and its fine. Soon as I go into my tourist city with the casinos and great work of Space activated my frames drop harder then the housing market back in 07/08.
P.s I tried to play in this tourist city on my 3080 gpu computer and my 3070 laptop all incur the same issue.

This issue is still happening when I have a stadium up it gets real laggy 1 frame a second/ frozen
with a new block of land in the same region no issue.
I had more people on the city with no issues and now I have 100,000 less people and it's laggy something to note I had a meteorite shower (3rd one for the city ) but this one left plot of radiation. Could this little pocket of radiation be laggying it as well? Please fix I know game is 10 years old and no financial gain but it's unplayable

When I remove the stadium it's not as bad but it gets to a point it's 1 FPS/ frozen.
Keep in mind I had meteorite shower (3rd time for the city ) this one left a radiation zone could this radiation pocket make it laggy ?
I know you there is no financial gain as the game is 10 years.old but this Issiue makes it unplayable please fix
