When I try to run the game I receive:
"Could not start the renderer. Please ensure your display is set to 32 bit color. [1001]"
I have an AMD HD 7750 with the newest AMD catalyst driver a Core i5 with 12GB of RAM. The display is set on 32-bit color. Running SimCity Recovery doesn't seem to do anything. Unistalling and reinstalling origin, SimCity and the graphics drivers did not fix the issue. As per the readme I did enable gpu scaling. However the bit about anti-aliasing option to 'application control' I could not find. What I assume is the most similar setting is anti-aliasing mode as 'use application settings'. The install is from a disk for SimCity Limited Edition and not the origin download.
I'll be returning the game if EA doesn't acknowledge or fix the issue in the next few days. If EA is going to charge $60 for a new release the game should work or they should provide real support (the contact game advisor for simcity produces no contacts) and not just relegate their customers to user forums that seem to be poorly supported. I was dubious of the games dependence on origin and the server problems confirm my skepticism. Now with the lack of support to debug an issue to run the game in the first place solidifies that there are few, if any, redeeming qualities for the end customer in EA current business model.
EA - Please prove me wrong...
