- Anonymous7 years agoI factory reset my MacBook and it's still crashing... I'm going crazy! when I build new things it crashes, when I fast forward, it crashes... Pretty much every reason it will crush. :-(
- Anonymous7 years agoI'm chatting with a EA Game Specialist Team member.
I told him that there's a forum full of people with the same problem and that the problem is probably from the game and not from the computer.
He said that they are going to work on it and make a new upgrade.
Let's hope it works!

You are welcome sim addicteds! ;-pWell, it's a little disheartening they didn't know it's supposed to be in the pipeline already. This post was made back in December, and we still don't have any updates. You could try the suggestions from there:
@EA_Mage wrote:Hello all,
We have escalated the issue to the studio and Maxis is investigating it.
At this time it appears as though the problem is related to use of the Intel GPU in your Macintosh. Maxis is working with Apple to further identify the root cause and determine the best resolution. We do not yet have a timeframe for a permanent solution.
While the investigation is proceeding you may be able to work around the problem by:
- Connect an external monitor before launching SimCity or the Origin client. The Intel GPU is typically used with the built-in display, but a second GPU (NVIDIA, AMD, etc) may be used if an external display is attached to your Macintosh.
- Consider using a utility such as gfxCardStatus ( https://gfx.io/ ) to force your Macintosh to use a non Intel GPU. (Note that EA & Maxis do not support third party applications and encourage caution when using applications downloaded from unknown sources on the Internet.)
Thank you very much for patience and understanding.

Hello Tom. Thanks for the advice. I tried all four bullets and unfortunately none of them worked. SimCity complete crashes within minutes of launching. Completely up to date mac here running 8mb of ram.
- Anonymous7 years agoSame exact problem with same exact set up. Just bought the game this week. Kind of sad.

Any updates after installing 10.13.4? I really enjoy this game and find it strange that they're not continuing it given how much attention retro games tend to get (and SimCity was one of the best)

I guess I'll update, still crashing randomly ☹️ come on EA! We love your work, help us actually play it!

It's never going to get fixed. I've spent hours (more than the cost of the * game in time) trying to find a remedy. This is from my fourth chat session with EA. HIGH SIERRA users are screwed.
Good Day Everyone,
I had this problem as well for a really long time. However, after installing Mojave it has stopped. I have been able to load and play the game for hours without any crashing on full resolution.
Happy Gaming.
Hey, there I am here to tell you that I spent my money on this game form not even able to play it. I can open the game and see my city, which is hardly anything right now because I can't play, only for me to open one section to try and expand and then it crashes. I have been stuck in this endless cycle for 3 days in a row, I have also only had the game for 3 days. Is it origin, the game, or my computer causing this. I also already spent money getting this game, so this better not be one of your EA pay to play tricks. please help in a way that makes me allowed to play the game I bought.
