I just downloaded the new SimCity last night using Origin. The problem is that when I try to launch the game, the cursor blinks as though the computer is working, but the game simply doesn't launch. There's no error message or anything - it just doesn't start.

As promised here is the fix:You may remove the temporary files stored on your system. For this please follow the steps listed below – 1. Double click on "My Computer" 2. Double click on the C: drive 3. Double click on the "Windows" folder. 4. Double click on the "Temp" folder. 5. Hold the "CTRL" key and tap the "A" key to select all. 6. Tap the "Delete" key on your keyboard and accept the "Are you sure you want to delete these files" prompt. 7. Once done, press and hold the Windows key and the letter R 8. In the Run box type: %temp% and press Enter 9. When the folder containing all temporary files opens press and hold the CTRL button and the letter A to highlight all files in that folder 10. Press the Delete key. 11. When prompted to verify if the files should be deleted, click Yes. 12. Any files that cannot be removed can be safely ignored. Next and Final Step to Fix: End all processes concering Origin and SimCity through task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete than click task manager) Relaunch Origin and run SimCity as Administrator..

What worked for me is what someone else said to do in this thread. Thought i'd reiterate in a bump for people just checking the last page:1. Go to the Origin Application.2. Click the "origin" dropdown menu.3. Click "Application Settings..."4. Click the "In Game" tab at the top5. Uncheck the box marked "Enable Origin In Game"6. Save, and close the program.7. Run Origin as Administrator.8. Instead of running Simcity through the Origin Client, Run as Administrator from Desktop Shortcut.Win!! Running as we speak.EDIT:This fixed the problem of not running after clicking play, but when I entered the game, it loaded the tutorial until the very end ("tightening graphics") and then said "cannot connect to servers at this time". I think however they're working to fix this issue right now. Will respond with progress ASAP. RE-EDIT:Well the tutorial finally loaded. I actually got to the very end, right up until I had to go to Lucky Shores (or whatever it's called). It started to load the Lucky Shores region, but halfway through I got the error message "Could not connect to server at this time". So at this point, I don't think it's necessarily anything with the program itself, rather than hugely problematic server issues, which EA themselves have acknowledged. If you have the same problem as the OP, this fix really should work. If you have trouble claiming cities or loading, it's on EA's side. My guess is that the loading/claminig issues will be fixed by the end of the day. Good luck everyone! Hope EA at least learns from this whole experience.

It's still not opening... My computer is more than adequate in terms of RAM, processor, etc., and my drivers all update automatically.But what keeps happening is that I click "Play" while in Origin, and get this little box that says "Launching..." and then disappears, and then nothing happens.

I paid $65 for this thing, so I'd like it to be functional on some level. And the problems I'm having are only after it took forever to download a bunch of updates.

i just posted the same issue 2 seconds ago glad to see im not the only one having the issue i was able to play before and than all of a sudden it just wouldnt load anymore i uninstalled and tried it again still nothing. Launcher wont come up for the update or anything it really really blows. Was having crashing issues and server issues before this too, one thing after another.

Same problem. Posted also. Running as administrator doesn't help, nor does restarting pc, or checking the installation in origin. 😕mileysad:

Ive tried all those things too and pretty much ever solution that you would normally go through for software/game issues lol I hate EA!!

Currently waiting in line to talk to a technical support person from EA ill let you guys know if it yeilds any results

EDIT - 55-60min wait at 1:27pm EST this is a god **bleep** joke... Also just tried to launch SimCity again and it froze my Origin Program and it had to be force closed more and more issues and still no answers. They should have mad people all over these forums talking to us and actually fixing issues and asking us for information so they can actually do those things.
EDIT - 20-25min wait at 1:55pm EST hopefully something soon guys been clicking play every now and again still not working tried recovery also didnt do anything either.
EDIT - 5-10min wait at 2:07pm EST be talking to them any minute now FINGERS CROSSED

I'm having this issue as well. I ran the Simcity recovery and that worked a few times but now that isn't even doing it. It usually gives me trouble when i try to switch servers.
