For me turning off origin overlay fixed the problem. But then I can't chat with my friends in the game.

I found what was the source of the problem for me. If I use MSI afterburner and its overplay with Origins overlay then SimCity doesn't start, only starts in tasks not as an aplication. But If I start SimCity first and then MSI afterburner it all works.
Yeah, had the same problem with MSI Afterburner... what helped? In On-screen display server there's an option to enable Stealth mode... whatever it does makes SimCity run again with Origin overlay...
PLayed the game on Sunday for hours no issues. Today 3-20-13 2202 HRS game wont start. Click play from within orgin no response game doesn't launch. Yea we got a free game but sorry thats not enough how about a full refund on this game and we play for free also. A free game isn't why I bought this one. Lets go EA you ruined a classic game.
