Unable to create your city at this time. Please claim a city again later

Experiencing the same issue here. I haven't been waiting as long as some other people but I've been looking forward to playing SimCity on launch day since a month or two ago ☹️

Everyone knew this was coming and still couldn't stop it. Maybe everyone will get a refund and then I can play.

Just managed to create a city! I kept trying for ~10 minutes until it worked.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! UNACCEPTABLE AND A F*****G DISGUSTED TO CALL YOURSELVES A GAMING COMPANY!!!!!! EA, Let me know when I can give you my information so you can send me my $62.99 back. Worthless.

I had the same proble then at the first screen after selecting play from the origin engine there is an option to switch servers. As soon as I switch to a european server I got in. Good luck Hope this helps you.

What a waist of my HARD EARNED time and money. 

Same Issue, and guess what, EA could care less about any of these comments, at all, whatsoever.

DUde! you are totally right! To hell with online! what about rainy days when internet is down...what about long road trips in a bus to somewhere..

what about...dam it what if I just don't have great internet...persistent connections and game SUCK! for the love of pete stop it already!

If you click alot it will work, but for trying a few times it sets you as ~mayorusername~ doesnt save, and you can only build parks

I dont care about the social aspect of this game, at least not initially, I just want to play single player... I paid extra to have it delivered on release day... not the first time I have had trouble with EA and their crapy servers though.
