Improve Loading Between Levels
Please, give us the ability to travel between maps faster. We should be able to travel from anywhere on Grom directly to the main city. Or from Grom directly to the inside of the stadium.
Recently, I've had to play on my PS4 and the load times are excruciating. The excessive loading was already an annoyance on my PC, which loads much faster than my PS4, but it's become incredibly discouraging to even just play the game now.
I was on Grom to complete a task and wanted to go back to the stadium so I could start there the next day. That meant I had to:
- Fast travel to the ferry.
- Wait for it to load.
- Travel to the main map.
- Wait even longer for it to load.
- Fast travel to the stadium entrance.
- Wait for it to load.
- Enter the stadium.
- Wait even longer for it to load, again.
It took me about 6 FULL MINUTES because I had to go to these arbitrary travel points for no reason and load FOUR TIMES just to get from one place to another.
I haven't played the older games, but I've been told that this was a feature in at least skate 3. You could zoom out from the local map and have the whole world map show, then pick any of the other levels to load into. Or give us a submenu or something on the map screen that lets us load directly into any of the 3 levels. Just give us some way of choosing where to go without the unnecessary run around.
That submenu would also be a convenient place to have a list of all the missions and challenges, including those in other areas, so you don't have to load into another map just to see what you're missing.
As an additional suggestion, let us choose where to load at the title screen. Just give us an option to start where we quit last time, or some fixed point in the main city, on Grom or in the stadium. It would be so nice to only have to load once if I wanted to skate somewhere else than where I was the day before.
