My thoughts on S3's roadmap

First off let me say that I am pleasantly surprised. The two latest dev logs (Feb 19th and 20th) addressed quite a few issues I had with skate. that I've mentioned in my last post here.

When you mentioned S.K.A.T.E. by name, it was such a relief. I'm sure you've heard our cries and I'm so happy that you are delivering. Furthermore, when you mentioned 'hillbombs' by name, when you revealed Grom, that got me really exited. I've personally btched countless times about the current map not having hills, and now that we're getting Grom back, I'm hopeful about the feasible return of Death Races.

I'm also happy to hear about the wear-and-tear update. I've read a particular discussion once where it would be cool to see the wear-and-tear reset every time you load the game; I agree. Also, and this is something I've yet to read from other players, it does technically re-introduce the grime and dirt of skate culture.

2 for 2, lets keep it rolling.

I'm happy to hear that the shop is getting a re-work. Improving the catalog, adding over 200 basic items, and the a la carte feature... AHHH!!! creams.

I'm happy to see that you're doing a few things right, and taking my words to heart: "don't be afraid to fkc sht up!"... as long as its in the pursuit of delivering a good game.

But yeah, you did fkc up a little: you promised that no new areas (if added to the game) would hide behind a paywall. With all the bullshttery you pulled back in S1, I really trusted you with that one. Sad.

I can understand granting the skate.pass members early access, but you decided to grant them that access on day 1 of S3. That's pretty shtty. Furthermore, you also decided to continue hiding Grom behind a paywall even though it wouldn't cost us any real money (500 RIP chips). A PAYWALL IS STILL A PAYWALL!

I can only thing of two reasons as to why you would do this to us: 1) Grom is its own island, and like the real world, if you want to travel to an island you would need to pay for that ferry. It makes sense. 2) I mentioned towards the end of my Honest Feedback post how there wasn't any real motivation to complete challenges for RIP chips... I mean I guess I'm a little motivated now. Its just that this approach was such a left field for me; most of us.

Everything else from the new tricks (finger flips), replay improvements, and again the cosmetics are pretty cool, and I can't wait to see them; said super unenthusiastically.

Anyways, I can understand where the disappointment is coming from in players, but I'm willing to grant you the benefit of the doubt, you did SOME good work here today, keep it up.
