the visual updates somehow have made the characters look like they all have a rash of some sorts.
what we meant by "update" or "change" the visual style is make the game look real. like the others in the series. no one likes the fortnite/apex legends character design in a skate game. everyone looks the same. everyone is androgynous and kind of asian no matter the skin tone or faces chose. its odd as hell.
I'm fully grasping your point. It's just that your point is complete nonsense. What does a "man" face shape look like? Do you really need to be babied, step-by-step through the character creation process with each face shape, so that you can see which ones can be made masculine enough for your shifting goalposts?
Are you stoked about getting t-shirts and hats in your boxes that you AREN'T forced to get to progress? The game is not entirely made with girl stuff you weirdo. If you don't like it, don't wear it. Or make a better suggestion like "It would be great if we could just choose which clothing to buy instead of relying on a random loot box."
I saw some of these ridiculous complaints before, so not too long ago I actually counted the loot box cosmetics, since I have every single one of them. Since you seem to be freakishly averse to "girl things", I'll categorize them into "boys" and "girls" clothes, like we're back in the 1960's. There are 8 bras/crop tops, 7 skirts/leggings and 3 dresses. That's 18 "girl" clothing items. 20 if you want to be a real stodgy loser and count the 2 pairs of short shorts. For everything else, there's 37 tops, 21 bottoms and 3 outfits that are "boy" or neutral clothing items, for a total of 61. 59 excluding the shorts. Now, which is the bigger number, 18 or 61? 20 or 59?
You actually just described why most people have left. Recycled missions and microtransactions. And also the game is unfinished and has a lot of really annoying, persistent bugs. Lots of people indeed aren't a fan of the artstyle, but if that's what makes you give up playing a game that you otherwise think is fun, that's on you. You continuing to play the game is not holding the company accountable when all you're doing in this thread is complaining that you can't make your character look masculine enough for your sensitive tastes.
I too like to pull random statistics out of my **bleep**. Do you have a single bit of evidence to prove that "90%" of the playerbase has stopped playing since launch, and it's because of this game's artstyle?
are you stoked about getting short shorts and tu-tus in your boxes that you are FORCED to get to progress?
There aren't any "tu-tus" in the game, and the shortest shorts in the game only go a few inches above your knee, which plenty of real men wear. They're not even actual "short shorts." Not only that, but there's dozens of longer shorts and pants in the game. You're whining about what, that they have a variety of clothing options? That you claimed the cosmetics in boxes and now you're upset by just the mere existence of them in your apparel menu?
And you're not "forced" to get boxes, literally what are you talking about? Don't get the boxes if they don't have any cosmetics you want? You don't need them, I'm level 10 in all three districts and I didn't open every box.
Also you keep saying the game has an "androgynous" character style and yet I see in this thread someone's already given you examples of masculine male faces you can make in this game. You just don't know how to use the character creator, apparently.
what you are enjoying stylistically has lost 90% of its player base since launch while its counter with a realistic style have gone up a steady 60-80% every month since skates launch.
almost like no one likes the choice of style in the game except you guys. the only reason im on it at this point is too hold the company accountable because all they have done is lie to the community and provide nothing but recycled missions and microtransactions
yes i agree, having an androgynous game style isnt my cup of tea. a long with the people choosing not to play this garbage because of it.
let me blow your mind. i have long hair irl. im a bi man. ive always skate in my free time.
what i dont like is forcing this weird androgynous mess. im a man at the end of the day regardless of my likes. i dress hetero and i dont want the equivalent of e-waste in my character selection screens and baked into my progression. i want it just as easy to make my character to look like a man as it is to make my character look like a Pilipino women.
are you stoked about getting short shorts and tu-tus in your boxes that you are FORCED to get to progress?
the old games made women apart of the stories by giving them pivotal roles in the game itself not by making the entire game with girl stuff. they just made it available. thats apparently a crazy concept for yall that the dev's instead of trying to wrangle in new people by legitimately pandering they could just make something good.
i am glad you have found the 4 male faces out of 2 pages of faces.
you really arent grasping my point at all.
let me cut it right clean and straight for you.
for every 1 male oriented item/feature in the game there are 3 feminine. if you want to be a man in this game you have to try or pay for it out of pocket. if you want to be a girl its handed to you and baked into progression.
almost like either 1 they made the game oriented for women or they are saying that men will pay for things and women wont.
I’m genuinely not, but chocolatekake beat me to it, you’re complaining about an art style with no effort given. You can’t give a single reason why they look feminine besides a lack of hair options which is wrong? Believe it or not men have long hair and it can look just as nice as a woman’s head of hair without making someone a diva. Not to mention season 2’s visual pass reduced the amount of makeup on all of the feminine eyes making them even less “diva”-like. If your character looks bad it’s because you don’t like the art style, if you think they look like a woman then that’s a lack of effort. My friends made passable characters in 5 minutes on their first login and they look mostly like themselves. My guy looks just like me, if he look me feminine it’s because I probably have feminine features. Most guys I run into in game very obviously look like men. Focus your complaints, we’re only here making a case because we don’t want your unfocused argument to ruin what we’re enjoying. lol
So to make your point, you provided a character reference that looks nothing at all like what the other person posted, in art style or facial features? I even tried to adjust my character to actually match what you shared and they still look nothing alike, nor does it look like they have pink eye, so maybe you just need glasses. And subtle blotchiness actually quite literally does make the faces more realistic, you should try looking at real human faces some time.
Since you seem to struggle with designing men, and understanding what people look like, I made a few for you. And I didn't even use the facial hair options.
I'm telling you with a straight face that this is the artstyle they chose to go with. Could they do better? Definitely, considering they messed up skin tone rendering with a previous update. And the included variations are kind of limited as well, as every character ends up looking fairly youthful, and plenty of options are barely different from each other. There's also very little customization in terms of sliders, as you mentioned. But women aren't the only people that have hips and butts of variable sizes, in case you weren't aware. Unless you're 13 years old and trying real hard to pretend you're not a kid anymore, realistic isn't better, it's just realistic. It's not copping out to use an artstyle you don't like.
What's corny is you whinging about being hurt by character designs that you can create yourself, when you could just make your character look masculine if you wanted to. Maybe they won't look exactly how you want. So what you could do instead of being a weirdo culture warrior is say that there aren't enough options. You almost got there, but then you just made your complaint about something else instead.
And did so again, with this statement: "theres no resonance with skate culture in this game." So am I to understand that "skate culture" is photorealistic graphics and an explicit delineation between genders, with no room for androgyny? What are you even complaining about?
you are really trying hard to not get what im saying.
im saying even the male faces. look feminine. there is no distinct differences to make a face male/female in this game unless you put a beard on your person to signify that you are in fact male. your male character. looks feminine. my male character. looks like a girl with a beard. because not only does every face choice look kind of like a girl. every hairstyle is feminine. there are maybe 5 i could count of hair styles that would be for guys. the rest are for women. you are a guy with long hair? hope you dont mind looking like a stylized diva while skating.
oh you wanted to customize your characters body? the only sliders for customization are for your **bleep**, your hips and **bleep**. almost like they made all their character customization catered for women
it feels thoroughly that they made an extreme sports expansion for sims and decided "oh hey we got that skat IP on the back burner" and added a flick it system.
