and there’s also all these missions I don’t care about. It’s just too much for someone completely new to the series. Just let me skate
Once you're off the tutorial island you don't have to do a single task or mission you can get right into jumping gaps and doing whatever you want. As for fast travel points, it is a part of game progression, as it is with most games, but there is a workaround for you where you can go into your social menu and teleport to someone who is closest to the spot you wanna hit.
