Trouble with 'Transitioning 101' Mission

When I am trying to complete this mission, I cannot beat the first objective of performing a Left Ground Grab. The game says to use 'L2' but will do nothing, none if the buttons will do anything accept from ones that can open menus. 

Tried searching for solutions but only found a reddit post that says there is a solution that was put onto this forum by  Braddock 512 but cannot find anything under the profile or when I search the mission name on EA Forums. 

Any help would be appreciated and hopefully this would help other with the same problem.
