Woke EA
I like that we’re getting another Skate game. I’ve enjoyed it for the most part so far.
What I don’t like is that EA is either trying to get a closer to an E rating or they’re trying to grab a younger audience.
Hall of Meat is now Stunts- All the gross/fun stuff about throwing yourself off a building is gone.
Players ability to get up after a life ending crash- Let’s explain it with some science fiction nonsense that no one asked for. Is EA worried about young kids thinking they can replicate what they see in the game?
No more skitching- Unless I haven’t been able to find the controls. We wouldn’t want kids thinking that holding onto vehicles while riding a board is acceptable.
Want to hit a guy with your board and eventually get tazed? Too bad. EA wants happy world where skaters and pedestrians all love each other and get along.
Some other problems: Tutorial was too long. I told the game that I knew how to play from previous games. Stop trying to hold my hand and walk me through every aspect of the game.
Skate 3 felt like it was made by skaters, for skaters. From the low camera angle mimicking a rider following you with a camera, to the funny and ridiculous dialogue. This new game feels like it was made for the younger siblings of those of us who played the originals; IE Fortnight-esc art style, strange and cringy lingo, and EA’s patented micro-transactions.
