Unable to use quick drop items
Yes I see that there is a megathread for this, but it's from a year ago. I would hope that whatever issues were causing this then have been solved. Also I have never had this issue until SUMR Camp was released, which leads me to suspect it is a new issue. Also as I will describe in more detail, the bug actually IS somehow tied directly to SUMR Camp itself. I am on PC, I have attached (slightly redacted, just for stuff with my name, etc) DxDiag results to this post as requested by the bug reporting instructions. Also I have discovered a workaround to this bug which I describe in detail in this post, and I think the workaround is also valuable diagnostic info.
Important Caveat: I'm writing this after having written the rest of the post. So originally I was going to title this post "Unable to use quick drop items in SUMR Camp", but then I tested in San Van and the bug also happened there. After this paragraph I will describe the bug, and that description is still accurate. However I then go on to describe a workaround. This is the important note, that workaround now seems to ONLY work in SV, or possibly SV and Grom (I haven't tested in Grom). But it DOES NOT work in SUMR Camp. I have still never placed a single quick drop item in SUMR Camp ever. Even with the workaround I describe, it does not work in SUMR Camp, only in SV (and possibly, even probably, also Grom).
Main Bug Description: So what happens is that I go into the quick drop menu, everything looks fine, I can browse through all the different items. But once I actually press A to select one and begin placing it, it immediately locks to the ground as a ghost. There is now no way to interact with it at all. If I try to place another object (regardless of whether its the same object type or a different type, it makes no difference) the previous one will stay where it is as a ghost, and then the new item will also get added immediately as a ghost the second I begin to try placing it. The items will just keep accumulating like this as I keep trying. And the most important thing is that once an item is locked to the ground like this as a ghost, once I exit quick drop mode the ghost items all disappear. So in other words, it is not possible to place any quick drop item anywhere while this bug is happening, it's not just that you don't have control over where they go, you can't place any items anywhere.
Workaround/Important Diagnostic Info: (added later: remember this workaround does not apply while in SUMR Camp). OMG. Ok, I have discovered both a workaround as well as potentially very useful diagnostic info. I discovered that the manner in which you add objects is very important. The first time you add an object (while the bug is happening), it will ALWAYS be a ghost that does not get placed and stays locked to the ground. There is no way around this that I have discovered. And if you just stay in the item selection submenu of quick drop, the same thing will keep happening with EVERY new item you add, no matter what. HOWEVER, if you hit circle twice, once to get back to the item selection submenu, and then one more time to get to where you have the cursor you can move around with "Lower/Raise" and "Add Object" commands on screen, and THEN you press A to go back into the item selection submenu... When you do this, every item you add will add NORMALLY, it will NOT be a ghost, and it WILL show up and be skateable when you exit quick drop entirely.
So in short, when whatever state causes the bug to happen is active, the first item you add in quickdrop will always not work, it will be a ghost stuck to the ground that disappears when you exit quick drop mode. And if you stay in the add item submenu, EVERY item you add will have this same problem. But if you exit out of the item selection submenu BUT stay in quick drop mode, and then re-enter the item selection sub-menu, that will FIX the bug and the item will add normally. BUT, as I described in the Important Note section, this workaround absolutely 100% DOES NOT work in SUMR Camp. In SUMR Camp, I have never been able to place a single quick drop item in any circumstance
