19 million players 😮
That's a lot!

@ArchAngeL-PCXPS+ had the game for free for an entire month last year in June or July so that really helped out. Player base has been tHrIvInG ever since. Xbox just needs a free week or month and the vision will be complete.

@UNL1M1T3D_P0W3R The game is free on PC and greatly reduced on Xbox already I think it’s $10 or $14 now and even less with Access so it might as well be free.
EA pulled a large group of new players by combining the free & reduced structure shortly after TROS release and then with the release of Mando on + you’re seeing a lot of franchise fans picking up the game.
Tens of millions of new players is nice but the game is 3 years old; one should also consider why and how the game failed to capture that audience over the last 3 years. The answer to that is the gaming community knew that this title has been a struggle throughout its life. Once the game was free or near free people were willing to deal with that because they weren’t paying full game rate price so if it’s clumsy “oh well”.
The key is how many play over the long term and I’ll tell you that those numbers will drop off. One mistake I see a lot is people comparing the game as it is now to when it was at launch. The reason this is a mistake is because it ignores the improvements made mid-life that saw the game far better than it was at launch. Comparing now to its arguably best period gameplay-wise it’s not hard to see why the game couldn’t pull these numbers without a promo price.
here’s to hoping BF 3 will be done better.

@VetteC5RXIt seems to me that if a game ships broken or in a mess, and then needs a year or two to fix, then it falls off people's radar completely. New games that aren't broken and are of high quality keep coming out. Gamers will go play them instead of waiting to see if a developer will fix a game or not. That's a big part of what happened with Battlefront 2. Even two years later there were people that thought loot boxes were still in the game. They weren't even paying attention to it at all.
But again, here we are back at the reality that EA pulled support too soon. Given the fact that Age of Rebellion has no capital ships on Supremacy, a recycled map in Scarif, and Age of Resistance has no hangars in their capital ships, I think the decision to pull support was made well before this content came out...likely sometime in Fall 2019 before Rise of Skywalker.
That's too soon to even see what kind of impact the content could have had or where DICE could continue to take the game from there.
- 5 years ago@UNL1M1T3D_P0W3R Is it on Gamepass on Xbox? Maybe Games with Gold if they still do that. PS+ helped out a ton. It takes no time to get matched into co-op or Supremacy. The "free" aspect gets people to try it out. Then they find out how drastically it has improved and how much there is in the game now, so they keep playing it. Same thing happened after TitanFall 2 was on PS+.
- 5 years ago@ArchAngeL-PCX I'm on PS4 so I don't know about Xbox, I'm just saying that 2 out of 3 platforms has had it for free, Xbox may as well dew it too. And yeah, it definitely made the vision complete on PlayStation. Working as intended.
