i had this problem - on the pc - pressed F3 and found myself above ground again and back in the game and able to move towards the shuttle.
100% no idea why that fixes it but I stopped falling once pressing f3 and fell again after pressing f3 again.

F3 does absolutely nothing for me. Any other way to fix this issue?
