Having the exact same issue. Event viewer logs it as "kernal-power" under critical. Updated graphics drivers, no problems with similarly demanding games, etc. First time I've ever experienced this. Built this PC roughly a month ago. I can play single-player tutorial and missions, but multiplayer and campaign blow me up as soon as they start loading. Cannot reproduce the error outside of the game. Have also reinstalled btw. No dice.
To do that, navigate to the settings folder that should be located in
C:\users\PUT YOUR USERNAME HERE\documents\Star Wars Battlefront II\.
There should be a file named "Boot options". Open that with the Text Editor. If there's a line saying "GstRender.EnableDx12 1" change the 1 into a 0 and save it.
This will deactivate DirectX12 and the game should launch again, if the freeze was caused by that, which it is for many people.

I tried that, and mine's already set to 0, so that must not be the issue for me.
I have a feeling it might have to do with a recent Windows update, since it was running yesterday before the update. I know I could just roll back the update, but it was a significant Windows update and I don't think that's a feasible option.
This issue hangs my PC to the point where Windows completely shuts down. I have to manually reset my PC to get back up and running.
Windows 10 Home
64-bit
Intel Core i7-7700 GPU, 3.60 GHz
16 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
(Keep in mind that, with the above settings, the game was running as of yesterday without issue, so it's not a problem with my system's compatibility.)
I noticed something in the Event Viewer on the two crash occasions: An alert for "Display driver nvlddmkm", so I'm wondering if it could be a display driver problem. I'll look into that further, but I hope to see tangible solutions sooner rather than later.
