Hello,
Sorry for necro, but this is excactly the problem I have and the first hit on google. Also, it doesn't look like it's ever been resolved.
So whenever I start the game, it automatically turns on G-Sync, even if it's disabled in Nvidia settings. These are the excact steps I take:
1. I turn off V-Sync + G-Sync in Nvidia global settings by unchecking the boxes and changing the dropdown menus for V-Sync to "off". I apply.
2. I start the game. Now, the screen flickers and the hardware FPS counter built into my monitor appears. Note: This FPS counter only appears if G-Sync is active! It doesn't work without G-ync.
3. I Alt+Tab to check the Nvidia settings and the boxes are still unchecked, V-Sync and G-sync is stil shown as "off", but my monitor clearly indicates that it's running.
4. I check and uncheck the boxes without hitting apply yet. This shouldn't have any effect, the apply button should be greyed out because technically, I haven't changed anything. But I can now hit apply, the screen flickers and now my monitor indicates G-Sync isn't running. Great!
5. But now, I Alt+Tab back into the game, the screen flickers AGAIN, FPS counter reappears... G-sync turned itself on again by just alt-tabbing back into the game! WTH?
Whatever is causing this, it's super annoying. I don't want to use G-Sync with this game as I'd have to cap my FPS in order to not exceed the G-Sync window and I don't want the increased latency that comes with that. Even forcing the game to use a fixed refresh rate via NV profile and turning everything off there doesn't help. As soon as I enter the game by launching or alt+tabbing back in, it immediately activates G-Sync!
This happens on a freshly installed windows of a pure gaming PC with only drivers, launchers and games installed. Initially, I thought it might have been a problem with my old PC, but I built a completely new one earlier this year and it's still there. I'd imagine that a lot more people suffer from this problem but don't realize it, as it only shows itself by a brief flicker of the screen upon launch and if you're not very susceptible to latency and don't have other indicators (such as the fps counter built into my monitor), you might never even identify it!
Please Help!
