Hey mate,
There is a valid reason for this, as a hero ship you naturally have an advantage over the other standard ships, of which if you are going around killing loads of ships as a hero and you had normal points then you could easily gain a hero ship straight again, the way to combat this for fairness to other people if to give you less points so you cannot farm heroes for an entire game.
This is all about balance, you play the hero ships in order to have an advantage to win the match, not gain BP faster to get a hero again when you die.
