BB-9E Shock Spin Problem

Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug Shock Spin is only taking affect on one opponent; afterward opponents can approach and defeat BB-9 because the Shock Spin isn’t taking affect.
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? VetteZ51
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug? 02/09/2020
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM) 02:05
In what game mode did the bug occur? Heroes vs. Villains
What is your time zone? EST (IET) - GMT - 5:30
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Use BB-9E and activate the Shock Spin ability. The ability will provide a knock back on one opponent only.
What happens when the bug occurs? Only one opponent is affected allowing others to approach with no affect and defeat BB-9
What do you expect to see? I expect that the ability will work like Phasmas stun droid; anyone who enters the AOE and isn’t blocking should be affected be the ability; receiving damage and the knock back.
Please select your region North America
AMD or Nvidia Model Number N/A

When playing as BB-9E against hero characters the shock spin ability isn’t taking full affect.

the shock spin will affect one hero, providing damage and the intended knock back. After that any other hero character can approach BB-9 and defeat him while shock spin is active because the ability isn’t taking affect on any hero after it affects the first one.

unlike Phasmas shock droid that will affect anyone within the AOE who isn’t blocking this ability isn’t working in the same way. Plus BB-9 has restricted mobility while shock spin is active making this issue worse.

BB-9s shock spin needs to be fixed so that it takes proper affect against any opponent hero’s who enter the AOE, not just the first one.

  • Correct, this E skill of BB-9 is very worse than the E skill of BB-8 !!! With BB-8 we can even reach 1st in the match HvsV !!!!

With BB-9 nobody never will ever be able to be 1st if they don't change this!

It should be equal to Phasma's droid

  • @R1cardao  Yeah, BB-8 is fine .. but BB-9 isn’t balanced. With his slow movement and the shock spin bug not affecting more than one hero the ability is more of a liability than a benefit.

  • @VetteC5RX The ability does knock back multiple heroes at once as long as they're within the closer range when initially activated (have done it many times). Anyone outside that range or entering after the initial activation simply takes damage, which is completely in line with the ability's description: "On activation, BB-9E pushes and damages close by enemies with an electric pulse. Enemies further away will have their blaster overheated and grenades disrupted. BB-9E will damage close by enemies for the remainder of the active time." I believe it's working as intended and is not a bug. If and when enemies lock on to you during the remainder of your slow-moving spin, simply cancel the ability and dodge away.

    @R1cardao See attached image

  • @nrobh  If that is the intended case then the logic is poor and flawed. The deactivation isn’t instantaneous and if the crowd control aspect is only at the immediate activation then BB-9’s movement shouldn’t be slowed.

The “close by” range isn’t indicated, only the total AOE so that would make proper timing clumsy.

if the ability isn’t to do a full knock back after initial activation then those entering the AOE should be susceptible to a stun.

The damage done by shock spin isn’t as great as the cable spin of BB-8 so the opportunity to defeat an opponent really isn’t there.

I hope this IS a bug otherwise it’s yet another example or poor logic from EA.

  • @R1cardao If this is how he was designed to be, yeah; he needs balance.

BB-9 in this state isn’t an effective character. There are a few characters who have abilities that in real practice are more of a liability than a benefit when it comes to other hero & villains (Kylos frenzy is a good example of a poor ability).

A fair balance would be a stun effect for anyone who enters the AOE. Because the damage from shock spin is so low any saber wielded can just run right up and kill BB-9 before the ability can be effectively turned off and him dodge away. ... That’s not a good strategy anyway because most saber users have a pretty descent lunge distance and hit boxes in this game are large.

No matter how you look at it BB-9 is either bugged OR broken by design.

  • @nrobh Ok, but after the skill starts the BB-9 becomes very slow, Anakin or Luke Skywalker enter the radius and give you 2 blows and kill you. It's annoying

Woow my max with BB-9 was a fourth place. The other team should be of noobs 😂 The Anakin and Vader doesn't even show up hahaha my Anakin is level 1.000, any BB-9 will never be the first against me in the same match!

This skill of BB-8 is 10x more useful than of BB-9, the shock should work like the cables of BB-8 to balance. This is clear!
