BF2 (2017)closes upon loading map - steam Linux

Hello

I own game on origin but recently switched to Linux Fedora from windows and runing my steam games from there - so i've bought another copy of game so i can play BF2 on steam on linux.

I've installed game it launch but when loading map everything closes and kick me out to desktop, any idea what may cause this and more imortant  how to fix it ?

thanks

  • well, I solved the problem - the game works - admittedly not from the steam platform but... I just spent only unnecessarily extra money - I know that you are happy but from my point of view it is a loss. warning to other buyers - in a similar situation. You say that it is not your responsibility or interest, I can't and don't want to explain to you why you should pay more attention to cross-platforming but remember not to wake up with your hand in the potty

  • Hey @silvermag just a heads up, we don't officially support linux for SWBF2.

Said that, do you get an error message?

  • Hey

No - i can get into menu - change settings etc. choose game and then when i press play it start to load map and after moment it quit to desktop :/ doesn't matter if its single player or multi- no error message of any kind.

I had hoped that since you made the game available on Steam, someone made sure that the game could work in emulation mode also on Steam Linux, ity's my favourite game so far and it kinda sux that i can't play it because i don't use windows anymore :/

@silvermag unfortunately no. Not much I can recommend to fix it when it comes to Linux as its out side of our scope of support. And my own knowledge regarding Linux is very limted.
