BF2 Crashing Entire PC

Hello. My game keeps crashing after playing one or more matches. What happens is usually after a match my audio starts whirring and my monitor goes black. And after waiting about a minute my computer restarts. Any help would be awesome. Thank You!

PC specs:

i5 2400

16 gb ddr3 ram

AMD RX 580

600 evga bq psu

240 gb tc sunbow ssd

  •     Okay guys I think I fixed it. All you have to do is turn on vertical-snync. That's it. I played two consecutive matches and it didn't crash and was very stable.

The reason being it works is because it locks the amount of frames being put out by the CPU to the refresh rate of your monitor.

My theory as to why it crashes is that the CPU essentially pushes as hard as it can pushing out as many frames as possible a second

which in term causes the CPU to kill itself in the end because it was pushing so hard.

Let me know if it works. I only played two matches but it seems to have fixed it for me.

Another thing that I saw that was good was that in Capital Supremacy my CPU dropped down to as low as 64% usage.

Normally it would stay around 100% the entire game. Granted I have an old CPU, but during intense fights it goes to around 96% usage.

I'm going to keep monitoring the situation but it seems to be working. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

  • This happens to me as well, except I just bought the game and it won't even get passed the load screen before it shuts down my entire PC. I just bought my pc a few days ago so I know everything is up to date.

Hey, @kojoknowss  @AdmiralSaac  make sure that all drivers for windows and your gpu drivers are up to date.

You can also try to do a clean boot to see if there any programs messing with SWBF2 and turn off any overlay programs for example Discord or Nvidia experience.

Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂

  • Hey @EA_Atic  yes all of my drivers are up to date and I have tried the clean boot and it didn't solve the known problem with this game. I've done research on the problem I have with this game and have seen that many others have had the same problem since launch of this game in 2017. The problem is when starting this game gamers' CPU or GPU performs at 100 percent trying to run the game and then the game crashes, or like with my specific problem it shuts down my PC. I came across one fix that seems to be working for me now that I've found on you tube. This person states that the game doesn't limit the frame rate upon starting the game your frames will go to whatever your max frame rate is. The you tuber suggest downloading MSI afterburner, software that can limit framerates, and right now my CPU/GPU are around 50/60 percent usage and I'm able to play the game...so far. I'll keep monitoring, but this is a known problem with this game, I'm not quite sure why a fix hasn't been implemented yet seeing as how its been out for a couple of years. A link to the you tube video is below.

I turned on vsync with fullscreen and the game still crashed after 20 mins on multiplayer with all graphics on low. Only instead of instantly restarting everything slowed down and froze my PC, so I had to manually turn my PC off. I reinstalled the whole game but it made no difference. Battlefront 2 is the only game I have that causes me problems. Weird because my friend I play with hasn't had any problems with his copy. I have a Ryzen 5 1600 CPU and GTX 1060 3gb GPU.
