Cannot see invites sent from friends and vice-versa

My and my friend cannot see each others invites to lobbies. We can however see someone elses.

If we turn on origin overlay, then we can see the invite. The overlay however removes our cursors completely and thereby we aren't able to play the game at all.

Any help?
