Can't launch SWBF2 Steam

I am not 100% sure if this has been covered before but I couldn't a single article with the exact same problem as me.

I bought Star Wars Battlefront 2 in the Steam store with no knowledge that I needed to go through so much trouble to launch it. Whenever I click 'Play' in Steam I get redirected to my Origin library, but Origin says I havn't installed it yet. However when I click install in Origin it says the game isn't installed, while I have installed it via Steam. So in sumarry Origin says I can't install the game because I havn't installed it yet.

I have tried deleting the game completely and reinstalling it via Origin but it keeps redirecting me to Steam. I redownloaded the game there (which takes 3 hours each time) and copied everything to the folder 'Origin games' (which took an hour and a half). This did absolutely nothing. I have tried deleting and reinstalling Origin and the game multiple times. None of it was even slightly useful. I have spent hours going through reddit, quorra and answers.ea but I found nothing.

I have spent actual money on this game and I can't even launch it. And when I go to EA for help I get the suggestion of writing this.

Also I have been reading another ton of massages on this topic, and it might be handy to say that I didn't even kind of launch the game. I didn't get a minimalized version or a black screen or something like that. The just has not been launched at all. Also not after my second time playing or something. I have never launched the game in any way.

Can anyone please help me??? I am pretty much out of options here.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I apologize if my English isn't perfect it isn't my first language.

  • Hey, @vosluca  make sure that all drivers for windows are up to date, also worth to reinstall the GPU drivers for your PC.

You can also try to do a clean boot to see if there any programs messing with Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and turn off any overlay programs for example Discord or Nvidia experience.

Can you add a Dxdiag so we can see what hardware and drivers you have?

Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂

  • We have the exact same problem. I was playing the game just fine a few days ago. Then I tried to play it again and it would kick me out the lobby saying I'm not connected or that my network is too low when it isn't. I tried to do all the solutions which led me to make the game unlaunchable. I've tried every single solution possible and nothing. Everytime I launch it origin would appear then disappear then my in game status on steam would be gone. If I knew the steam client would be like this I should have just bought it on origin. Really need a solution here. *Sigh*
