Game crashing while joining multiplayer in a party

I never had issues with the game before, but when I've tried to play with in a party with a friend, either he or I would crash right after spawning in-game or some time later.
We both play on PC. I have the game claimed from Epic, and he owns the Steam version.

If you've never had issues starting the game the exact same way on the exact same PC, you may need to roll back a driver, such as video.

Note that "exact same PC" is like a unicorn - it doesn't exist. Your PC is frequently changing because of driver updates, etc.

Also, see if you crash in multiple modes including co-op.
