I haven't been able to play with a friend of mine for a while now. We can both see each other as online, but we haven't been able to see or accept join group requests in all the times we have tried to play together. This all started at the time of the Origin/EA merger and it hasn't worked properly since.
Based on some of the other posts I've seen, you may want to ensure you are both playing with the same accounts you used when you were able to play as friend prior.
Nothing on our end has changed, dude. We're both uisign the same accounts, the same names, everything. We can see each other, we can know and tell when we are playing the game cause our profiles show up and show we are online, but we can no longer join our multiplayer groups to play together and neither of us can see friend requests on either end or accept them. They simply time out and then expire. We have uninstalled/reinstalled the game on both our ends and unfriended/refriended each other through EA to the same problem.

Yes, and I haven't particularly seen anything that warrants a solution to the problem and a few of the solutions we were offered and tried didn't work either. Its still ongoing, what with the lack of being able to connect to my friends game or see and receive friend requests. It simply just times out. We even considered deleting and re-registering our accounts, but the problem isn't in our accounts and neither of us want the hassle or to spend the money to do it. All this stems pretty much back to the day EA took over as a middle man between us and the game. The day it happened was when we weren't able to play a game together and we haven't been able to since.
To reiterate what the issue is:
-we haven't been able to join each others game in co-op mode in Batlefront II.
-we are able to see each others profiles and know when each other is online, but neither of us receive or can send friend requests to each other anymore. It gets sent and the two of us both confirm that we did send them, but neither of us get them on our ends and thus are unable to join each other in the same group. The 'Join Request' simply expires. We are both ready to play and can't get into the same group lobby.
It still hasn't been fixed and its been a few months now.
I too have exhausted after intensive searching and trial and fail from all the suggestions which did not work.

EA takes control and within about a week or so, what was normally working systemically perfect, now will let us see each other, send a request, but no response, no notification, and no ability to acknowledge to group together. One time, we ended up in game but not together, but that's just stupid because the purchase of the game was co-operative mode. I personally am ready to toss it, and my faith in EA in the toilet.
Hopefully, unlike the fiasco with the "can't die at 1 health" bug that was way overdue for repair, I'm hoping this gets repaired. I have close to 80 games on steam, not like I can't just move away from EA, but is that what it has come to?
I understand the game is old, revenue is poor on it, and new users? Not seeing the status, but when I start seeing the same users over and over, I star wondering about how many are actively using it. Our conversations with many others are having the exact same problems.
Please, EA, fix this, or just give up and shut it down. It's been bug ridden, and the whole experience of the game is moot now because of all the problems.
I and my my friend neither have Twitter accounts so scouring EA's page for answers isn't an option either.
