I have the exact same problem on two accounts for my PS4. Completely annoying issue that came about after the progression update.
Just for clarification -
It does not matter how many times or ways that I equip/unequip star cards, view emotes or poses. The yellow triangles remain. New items earned post patch (after the progression update) are cleared in the normal manner.
Heroes and special troopers that do not have appearance tabs will not clear the yellow icon. The yellow icon only shows on the main screen and the collection screen. The character sub screens do not show any yellow icons.
Beyond annoying for this glitch/bug.
