The game updated yesterday, and I played one round of the new Ewok Hunt map. I then returned to menu and was viewing my collection when the game crashed. I immediately tried to reenter the application and was met with a message something like “corrupt save file detected. Continuing will Overwrite save data.” I have poured more time into this game then literally any other game I’ve ever played. If I lost my save data I would be devastated. Is there anything I can do here? At the moment since I don’t want to Overwrite to continue, I just can’t even play. I would love to be enjoying the new updated Ewok map. I see the team is working on a fix for console crashes, but with the update, will my save file corruption be fixed as well? Not sure what to do here. Please tell me I haven’t lost all my progress over the past couple of years.

Wrong. There is a way. And suffice it to say, I reckon it's pretty disturbing that the players figured it out while the trusted EA experts declared there's no way out of it, most likely forcing a lot players to ruin their files. Now, this works if you've set your system to upload backup data to the online cloud. And you might've already overwritten your files @whoishenryruff, but just in case, check this post out from some cool dude on Reddit:

Worked for me! The backup might be a day old, but that's better than nothing, right? Good luck man! Hope it can work. 🙂

  • I’d like to keep my save data for single player stuff as well though. Is there anyway to fix it without overwriting? When they release the patch to correct the crashes, will my save data be corrected? Or did this update that was added yesterday permanently corrupt my save data unless I Overwrite?

i saw that the “corrupted data” appears separately when I look at my save data on my PlayStation. Can I just delete the Corrupted data? Or will that delete everything? Also, could I download my backed up save data from a few days ago and delete my current save data from yesterday? Would that put me back to where I was before yesterday’s update? Thanks for your help.

Hey, @whoishenryruff unfortunately there is no way to get that data back. That system is controlled by Playstation as it's using the integrated cloud system from Sony.

What that means is that you would just need to replay the singel player campaign and Arcade. The achievements you have done there still saved as that is another system.

  • Gosh, obviously I’m not mad at you personally, thanks for the information, but that really is a huge bummer. The update that was launched just ruined all my progress in Single Player through no fault of my own, and there’s nothing that can be done to fix it you say. I really hope that measures are taken to make sure this doesn’t happen again with other updates. But truly I now have to redo a lot of gameplay because of the update that you all released and in no way am I being “reimbursed” or is this going to be fixed. Just sucks as a long time player... guess I’m just out of luck thanks to the update.... Thanks for responding to me though. @EA_Atic

What if, now that the game has been released for almost 2 years, and that the campaign won't get any updates, they implemented a way to jump between the stages of the Campaign even if the player hasn't completed it yet? It could be an option, besides playing from the beginning. I know one can do this if the campaign has already been finished.

Please forward this suggestion to the team, this way even if players lose their saved progression on the campaign they can at least jump back to where they were using menu features. And anything that matters from the campaign is already saved on your servers, so enabling this stage selector in the campaign is as simple as allowing players who haven't finish it yet have acces to the already existing Stage Selector.

  • Hey thanks very much! This worked! Thank gosh. I was nervous about trying it in case something else got messed up somehow but it worked just fine. Glad it wasn’t gone forever. I still really hope something is done on EA’s side to ensure future updates don’t cause this problem. Because if someone didn’t have automatic back up activated, they’d just be out of luck. And while it’s nice you would only lose single player history if it happened, still, if you completed all the missions, got all the collectibles, completed all the difficulties in battle scenarios, that’s hours of play you’d have to redo. That’s still a big deal to lose through no fault of your own, just because there’s a new update. Thanks again for your help! I appreciate it. Glad someone knew what to do!

  • Had the same issue, but did not have auto-upload enabled. Fortunately, the PS4 made a local backup when I ran the update yesterday (the update appears to corrupt the save file). Now I have two data files, the backup and the corrupted. I was able to delete the corrupted save file and then relaunched Battlefront II, which loaded the backup save file. All is good now - and I uploaded the save file to online storage.

You can delete the corrupt local save file by going to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage. Select delete, then select the corrupt save file to delete - it will clearly say Corrupted.

    Hope that helps someone else.
