I crashed too in blast running shield and melee. So it wasn't random, just another bug that should not be...
Try resetting your system, router and wifi. Sometimes it is the game connection, CPU, hard drive or Ram. Resetting will help.
You may need a cache reset, but this should help. Just restart before playing!. Files are big but graphics are awesome.
