8 years agoCrashing to Desktop
I experience random crashing in both single-player and multi-player. There is no error message, the game simply closes. However, it appears that crash dump files are generated; I can provide them o...
Game: Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Trial)
- PC Specs -
Do you have DX12 enabled? The game doesn't work well with it at the moment...
I keep crashing too, however only dx12 works here, dx11 is laggy as hell.
Neither your Quadro or Xeon are made for gaming
The Xeon might be ok but I think your Quadro might cause problems
I'm having the same issue, I7 4770K, MSI GTX 980 4G Gaming x 2
it seems a bit random, I'll play a few games, then in the middle of one it will freeze and then my PC Restarts. If I enable my triple monitor resolution, it will usually go black on my monitors and my PC just shutsdown dead and then restarts.
Can you run a dxdiag and msinfo? The error report in the msinfo should tell you more about what or why
Exact same problem as I have had since the Beta, launching the game is fine, however as soon as I assumingly are meant to load into a game it restarts my computer instantly. When looking on Event Viewer the following Critical message appeared 'The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.'
It worked well for the first day, but after I closed it for the first time it just crashes.

I'm having the exact same issue. I load up the game and a few minutes later my screen goes black and my computer shuts down all the while playing a broken/distorted buzzing noise. My specs match the recommended specs for the game, so I don't understand why it causes my computer to do this. The longest I've been able to play before the forced computer shutdown is 8 minutes and 32 seconds. It's driving me insane because I haven't even been able to complete one full round before the game crashes my computer, which means it's impossible for me to progress in the game whatsoever!
same here....i thought it was my computer, which it may be. It seems most people having this issue have older GPU hardware. I only have a gtx 780 so it is really hot and 99% usage during gameplay at a smooth framerate tho
I have exacly the same problem, but I got the shut downs even in the loading screen of the game, not even in the game yet, just in the starting menu where the game turns over 1800fps+ while I have all the system limited to 144fps but the game just don't follow orders from my GPU software.

I think the problem comes from the fps regulation inside the game, because when the game is under 400fps all works ok but when it goes over 1000fps just shut down and this game on the loadings goes over 1800fps and that causes the system to shut down, I think this is because the GPU to get that amount of fps ask too much power over the PSU and overpasses the 850W that the PSU can offer, so you (EA/DICE) should cap the fps limit on the game to 350fps and that would solve this problem to everyone. I think 350fps is enough because right now the best monitor on the market can just offer 320Hz so you would need just that amount to work on it.
I am as well. I don't know what it is. I thought it was a lack of air flow, but I just got a better fan. You described exactly whats been happening to my game/computer. What can I do to fix it though? I'm lost. This is why Battlefront 2017 is broken. Someone needs to fix it.
This is the second attempt at trying to reach out to EA. Hopefully I actually get a response this time.
I got the game more than a week ago and I've been constantly trying to get this game to work. The issue is that whenever I launch a multiplayer game it just crashes instantly with no error message or anything. Sometimes it'll give me a few seconds of freezing. If I'm lucky, I get like 5 seconds of gameplay... (yaaay....). I have never in my years of gaming had a game that just simply doesn't work at all after more than a week. At most, a game might have difficulties for a day, until I find a solution. Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been one of the worst gaming experiences of my life since my week has been ruined because I spent money on something that simply doesn't work at all and I have hopelessly been trying to get it to work.
This is unacceptable, EA. And don't give that nonsense that my computer is at fault, since literally every other game (Including Battlefield 1) works perfectly.

Game loads, I enter the multiplayer section, that loads, but as soon as the gameplay screen loads, system crashes. I've had a couple instances where the games simply shuts down and back to the origin screen, but I've had other times where the PC simply goes black screen and initiates a full reboot on its own!
Frustrating, since I've bought 3 copies for my 2 boys and I and only 2 of us can play.
Something worth trying (I haven't had a crash since I did this)
I completely uninstalled the game, then redownloaded it from Origin. Once that finished I ran a repair on the game. Since then it seems ok. I will be playing a lot in the next few days so will update if anything changes.
I think there may have been an issue with the installs that where preloaded before it launched, as someone else posted elsewhere that this fixed it for them after they had similar issues on a preloaded version.
I've just tried your suggestion Lord_Devboy and my game worked for a couple minutes and then my whole system crashed :\
Hi Mate, looking at your specs, both your graphics card and processor are not optimised for gaming.
Xeon processor is for servers mainly
Quadro GPU is for CAD/Graphics design
What is your main use for this machine? CAD or Server?
So if it is going black and rebooting ,the PC is going into a panic state and either A. Overheating or B. the kernel is in distress
i has the same problem, i hope this helps you.
i download RivaTunerStatisticServer, that set FPS for all games in my case i set in 144 fps, because in loading screen for a match (multiplayer or arcade) my fpscounter show me, +3000 fps, then i has a blackscreen and i get a hard pc restart.
So download RivaTurnerStaticServer and set a global limit fps (are a lot of tutorial in youtube, isn't difficult), always open this program before play swb2.
i hope help you!
Sounds like your CPU is overheating. You may need to buy some upgraded cooling equipment. Download and install Core Temp (free) and see what your CPU temp is.
If it's any help I had this problem after changing to an SSD and limiting the pagefile settings. Once I changed the setting back to "Let windows manage the pagefile" then the crashes stopped.
Have a look in your Event Viewer and see if there are any mentions of limited virtual memory when running BF2
Unbelievably, after having this issue for a good month or two, I have solved it I think after a chat on EA help centre with an EA Rep. My specific issue was crashing to desktop trying to load specific Starfighter Assault maps - all other game modes and maps worked fine.
My steps below (I was having the exact same issue as the OP):
I've just played a good hour or so on Starfighter Assault on all the maps that had previously crashed straight to desktop (Unknown Regions/D'Qar/Endor) as well as the others without hitch.
I'm not sure which of the steps solved it, but strongly suspect that it was an AMD driver issue, or possible registry fragment clashes.
My specs below for completeness:
Core I5 6600K
Asus Z170-P
16Gb DDR4
AMD RX460 2Gb
Samsung 500Gb SSD boot
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Hope this helps!
