This bug has been fixed with the deployment of the General Grievous update.

Short summary : This issue occurs after selecting "Play again" upon finishing a match in Arcade (affecting both Custom Arcade and Battle scenarios). When player selects "Play again", he/she will automatically spawn as Assault class after loading (even when match allows only Heroes) and the game completely skips Character select menu. The described issue happens only on first spawn after selecting "Play again", if player dies during the match he/she can normally respawn by selecting class or character in the "Character select" menu.
This issue happens 100% of the time in the described conditions.
