Deadzone on Starfighters broken

Summarize your bug Product: Star Wars Battlefront II Platform:Microsoft XBOX One What is your issue related to? General Summarize your bug 2 things gamewide that are gamebreaking Whatever control scheme you use in the Starfighter, the right stick doesn't work properly. If you yaw/roll right stick it wont activate until you move the stick literally 80% of the way. Not sure why this is intentionally implemented... Result is lots of crashing and a very uncontrollable jumpy starfighter. Very frustrating. Second problem is I have auto aim turned off and it's still on. Despite being off aim Assist slowdown stays on causing over aiming and terrible response/hit ratio, also sometimes it'll automatically follow a trooper or fighter automatically straight into a wall w auto rotation. Again this feature is turned OFF What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? Sceprent Vii How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%) Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug? 12/16/17 What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM) 2:00pm In what game mode did the bug occur? Galactic Assault What is your time zone? JST - GMT + 9:00 Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Easy just play the game. 100% recreatable. Drag the cursor over nothing then do it over an enemy and it wont hardly move. In a starfighter on any mode hit the right stick to yaw and nothing will happen... Push it all the way and your starfighter will go out of its way to crash into debris. What happens when the bug occurs? I die and stop playing the game. Pretty well described it already. Crashing into obstacles esp on objectives inside of a narrow tunnel like starfighter assault. You go from not moving at all to moving full speed completely missing your target cause of super jumpy aim. What do you expect to see? It can easily be fixed... It was perfect in Battlefield 2, 3, 4, 1 and Battlefront 1. Please select your region North America AMD or Nvidia Model Number N/a

What do you expect to see? Almost no deadzone, like planes in BF1.. jets BF4.. etc. I don't understand it's like you forgot how to design flight mechanics.

    @SceprentVii

Sorry to hear that.. But as I just learned as well, turning off Auto Aim does not include Straighter Assault for the Xbox Consoles.

I can provide you with how I tweaked my settings for Starfighter's. It is sufficient enough because I am accustomed to playing a few rounds until I found the right balance. If you goto Options from the Main Menu, then goto Controls,

    Invert Look - No

    Invert Flight - No

    Invert Vehicle - No

    Zoom Mode -  Hold
    Zoom Sensitivity - 45%
    Advanced Flight - Yes

    Disable Roll - Yes
    Starfighter Missiles - Toggle
    Starfighter Response Curve - 77%

    Stick Deadzone - 3%
    Straighter Buttons - Default

And If you do not like these settings, play a few rounds, and keep changing the options until you find a balance for yourself. Unless you are a very experienced pilot, I would recommend leaving the roll option to disabled.

I can show you a video of how I pilot my vessel's if it would help. Best help I can give is not thinking just 2 dimensionally. There are 3 dimensions when piloting, and if you can master power, pitch, yaw and weapons fire, it should work for you better in the long run.

    Starfighter Assault

  • Thanks, I am a very advanced pilot. I was actually #10 in BF4 USA Stealth Jets. I've tried the deadzone and it did nothing for me. I keep yaw independant, as it's more important in BF1 and 4 to have seperate control while you control speed, and aim, etc. I'll try the deadzone again just in case. I did not know that the zoom mode affects starfighters, that's kind of annoying to have to change every time... Also not a big deal. Thanks for the tips.
  • Indeed, that has nothing to do with the issue I re-tested just in case the team fixed anything. It's definitely an intentional mistake, and a frustrating one for me. I've played the game a total of about a week, I test it every update to find it (unsurprisingly) not fixed, then close the game.

I really want to play, but not this game... the ships are wayyyy too fast to be this unresponsive when flying through objectives that just fit your ship. If it's not a plethora of invisible walls then it's *you're in the falcon, you're disabling the generators inside the station you are slightly veered off course by a ship bumping you, no problem so you press yaw halfway w the right stick to re-adjust without overcompensating... nothing happens and you crash into a wall.*

Or using your default scheme here's what happens *dogfight death star debris brings you upon a piece of wreckage, last minute you calmly roll 60% stick to avoid the tips of your wing making impact... because if you yaw here your momentum will carry you into the object. But only... It doesn't respond nothing happens you crash into the object which brings you to scenario 3*

You celebrate that EA will probably lose license and stop playing the game and learn your lesson. Ha ha.

Have you invested in a different controller then, perhaps? I can possibly take a video of me actually piloting with a Microsoft Xbox Elite Wireless Controller.

Or even un-installing and re-installing your game? Or removing your profile synced data? You can of course tweak my settings to your liking, but as the default the left controller controls mostly throttle which of course translates into velocity. The right controller controls pitch (up to down) and yaw (left to right) with relation to the view.

I would agree that some maps are very cluttered with derbies especially ones like you mentioned with the weackage. Its all about finesse, even using my scheme I will crash when I am at too high of a velocity. But also besides the settings being changed, the Star Cards can also play a factor with the vessel.

I wish I can provide you with a solution.

  • Sigh. It's the GAME it's nothing to do with a controller or anything. Play the game and see for yourself. Move the right stick and see how far you have to push it for it to move. I don't get how the average player doesn't notice 70% deadzone.

I very accurately described the situation and you're talking about something entirely different, as if it's my first time flying. It is thousands of hours far from it. The game itself is broken, there's no solution on my side.
  • I totally agree with you on how bad it is that aim assist can't be turned off for starfighters.  It effs up your aim so often.  Most common issues with this: aiming at an objective, such as shooting venetor bridges, and aim assist decides to veer you off to shoot at some random AI.  The other thing is when you lock your torpedos on to something and then the torpedos are shot at some completely different target than the one you locked on to.  Totally random and very annoying.

I've noticed that if I'm aiming at one guy and another flies in front of him, aim assist appears to follow the second guy. My aim assist is OFF in options.
  • I agree with OP, I also noticed the starfighter deadzone doesn't seem to work at all. I turned it all the way off and all the way on and both times I still had to move the stick about 20% before the star fighter would respond and actually start to turn. I feel this makes flying a bit janky as well cause of the delay in response time. Basically if I had to describe it, it feels like input lag but it isn't. If this was fixed, I feel flying would be even more smooth.
