Downloaded BF2 on external hard drive (steam version) but files delete after

Like title says I downloaded all ~80 gb of the game, and had no performance issues. But right after disconnecting the external harddrive storing BF2 for a time (i play on a laptop, please dont berate...

Oh also the picture attached is where i think the directory is (like most EA games are in steam) but it only has two text files that i dont think do anything... Also the space in the hard drive is exactly around ~80gb if the game wasn't there and it freed space since the files just vanished out of nowhere... (unless the directory is different in SWBF 2...)
