EA did allow people to use Origin while working out issues with EA app - for years, actually. In other words, EA app has been live for much more the 4 months.
I suggested you completely remove Origin, yet your response suggests you reinstalled it. You should uninstall it and keep it uninstalled to keep that variable out of your troubleshooting mix.
You suggest in your original post that you can't play the game at all. Seems to me if you keep Origin and EPIC uninstalled (for now), you should be able to launch from EA app. No? To be clear - uninstall all three, then just reinstall EA app.
Hi DarthFDG,
thank you for your reply 🙂
Unfortunately, I've tried what you suggest, uninstalling all three launchers and just installing the EA app. This means, of course, that I can't access my Epic games but for now that's not the end of the world 😉
Nevertheless, the same 'failure to launch due to an issue our end' message comes up on the EA app. I can't be 100% certain but it seems to be a loop inducing conflict in the EA app which has marked my Origin SWBF2 standard edition as from Epic, when actually it was bought via Origin. Consequently, Epic deny the game to run as I haven't bought it from them, and then EA won't allow Epic's Celebration edition to run as I haven't bought it from Origin/EA. This has effectively locked me out of both versions of the game...
Some good news! I found work around late last night that has temporarily allowed me to run the Origin SWBF2 standard edition from Origin. I uninstalled EA, kept Epic installed and then reinstalled Origin. I then added a line in the Origin local.xml file as instructed in a YouTube video on how to stop the EA pop up. THANK YOU TO THE AUTHOR OF THIS FIX! YOU ROCK! O/
I won't put a direct link here as recommended by the video author to hopefully increase the time before the fix is patched. However, if anyone is looking for the fix the video is easy to find on YouTube... just do a search... it's only 2 or 3 minutes long.
Once back into Origin I did a full repair of SWBF2 four times... yes, for some reason it took four times. On the 5th or 6th launch attempt the game ran and I could play. Thankfully my cloud saves had saved my progress.
At least it works for now. Crazy I had to go to such lengths and I'm not holding my breath for EA to resolve this issue any time soon. Their 'wait and see', 'we're fixing it', and 'call us back' after hours on the phone, etc, with no confirmed resolution date is just total bs.
I must say I am APPALLED at EA's so called 'customer service' and release of an obviously buggy EA App. I'd heard stories of how bad the EA app and EA's customer service is, but until you experience it and the what can only be described as their deliberate, kafkanesque attempt to obfuscate their 'help' process to avoid resolving issues caused by their software it's hard to believe. Having now experienced it, trust me now I will believe anyone who says they've had a similar experience. Sadly, EA have lost my custom and as many people as I can influence to not use their products or services.

glad to see you got it working again

I purchased the game directly from EA on PC, and since being upgraded to EA App, SWBF2 would fail to launch.
Today my cousin, who is a PC engineer, worked out where the problem is. We opened the EA App on my PC using a different local Windows User Account, and then tried starting SWBF2, and it launched and ran with no problems at all. When we switched back to my Windows User Account, the non-launch problem persisted, and still is at time of printing.
As such it would appear that the non--launch issue is caused by corruption somewhere in the Windows User Profile files. We could not work out where, but at least it narrows down the problem.
