Changing servers does not work anymore. Only to a very very limited extent. I have 99% failurerate menawhile.
Can confirm that changing ping sites doesn't work anymore. I tried Tino's suggestion last night and it did not work, sadly. I was able to finally get into a game of Galactic Assault on the Ohio server after almost 45 minutes of trying... But after that, it was back to empty lobbies.
I am frequently in games where people start leaving, and it never fills up again. If I wait, I am eventually the only one in the room. Something doesn't work right in their system when it comes to prioritizing whether to start new rooms or fill existing ones. I really wish the matchmaking system had a merging feature...so if there are too many half-empty rooms, it would combine the players into one game. In Hero Starfighters, it is game-killing to have to wait and wait and wait every time the teams get unbalanced. I don't think the system handles this properly when it comes to matching new players into games.
Before this new, game-breaking issue I also had this problem...particularly in starfighters. If they insist on keeping a matchmaking system, something like you describe would surely be nice. However, as MANY others have said, a server browser would eliminate almost all of the issues we have.
