Error Code 216

What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug I’m trying to play with my roommate and we always seem to get this error code. We both have separate consoles, separate accounts, and any other multiplayer game works except for Battlefront 2. I’ve tried opening/forwarding ports and this does not work since we have multiple devices. Resetting our consoles and hard resetting our internet does not fix it either. I’ve also tried setting a manual ping on both consoles, and this does not work all the time. I should also mention that if we play individually it works fine. If we play with other friends, it also works fine. It’s only when we try to group together that we experience error code 216. Answers given in other topics relating to this same error code have not been resolved.

In what game mode did the bug occur? Heroes vs. Villains
What is your time zone? PST - GMT - 8:00
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Create a group in-game with one other player. Each player has to be using a separate console that is connected to the same local network. Does not matter if the consoles are connected to LAN or WAN, the game will prevent one or both players from joining the same session with error code 216 appearing on screen.
What happens when the bug occurs? While in the loading screen where both players are waiting to join an open game session, Error Code 216 appears on screen for either one or both players in the group. You are immediately brought back to the main menu screen after pressing “x” and are forced to retry connecting to another session (error code 216 always persists regardless how many attempts are made).
What do you expect to see? I would like to be able to play online with my roommates and/or friends without seeing this error code every time we are connected to the same network. I don’t see why we are unable to since we do not experience issues like this with other multiplayer games. It is extremely frustrating that we are forced to play on our own because we do not know how to bypass error code 216 and have tried all suggested workarounds. It would be nice if this issue was completely resolved and fixed, as it seems to be an ongoing problem that was initially reported around December 2017.

Please provide some answers and please respond to this issue.  Other players and EA members on this website and/or the Battlefront 2 forums have not been able to figure out what is directly causing this problem and none of the workarounds or suggestions are working.

    I'm sorry to hear about your issue with Star Wars Battlefront 2 ☹️ 

    Yes, this problem has been reported by many players before and I see that you've already tried a few workaround suggested by others.

    Can I ask if you and your friend are on also on one PlayStation's party (voice chat) when you're trying to play? Would it be possible for you to check if you will be able to play together without the error if one of you will be using a mobile hotspot instead?

    That is correct.  We join a group in the game and also create a voice party chat so we can communicate while we play.  We have also tried playing without the voice party and have still gotten error code 216.

    The mobile hotspot is something we have done before when our network isn’t working.   The problem with this is the connection is significantly slower and creates severe lag that impacts our gameplay.  So as much as we could do this again, it would be ideal to stay within our network to get the best speeds.

    Edit:  Sorry, I misread the question.  I will try the mobile hotspot to verify whether the error code appears

    Sorry for the delay in testing the hotspot.

    We attempted mobile hotspot last night, and we experienced error code 216 after only being able to successfully play one match.

    Something worth noting that we have noticed lately:

    Our first attempts of playing a game together is typically successful where we can complete one match.  After that game has concluded, one of us experiences a loading problem while trying to travel to the next map (without quitting).  We receive a delayed response in-game, then after about a minute, are sent back to the main menu screen and finally receive the error code 216 prompt.

    If we wait a day and try to play again, the success rate of joining together is currently 50/50

    I tried a "home-solution" read in a forum (i don't remember if italian or foreign one) successfully: i start a local single player match (no matter which one), i quit after few second game and back to multiplayer mode, and it works!!!

    I'm obviously quite disaapointed to follow this strange procedure every time i encounter this error.

    My system is PS4 PRO and both it and the game are up to date.

    I look forward to hearing from you guys...
